What a surprise. Here we go again. How can it be such an impossible task to test the product for EVEN just launching?

The Co-op News Punch Podcast returns for Episode 23

Quoting: RoosterFor controversial topics, I would like a discussion between two civilised people, who have opposing opinions on the topic: Is Proton good or detrimental for Linux gaming.
This is the one topic I see spurring up the most heated discussions on GamingOnLinux.
One day, when "all" is based on Linux, we'll have all native software. In the meantime: Proton brings ALOT of Windows refugees to Linux. Lets hope they stay. Many AAA-games even now just work. Single click kinda deal. Such as Jedi: Fallen Order. Just like that. Proton helps, and is amazing (even though still young).

That's how i think about it. If it works on Linux: that's enough for me. No matter through what it works. As long as i can play on Linux. Stadia is my sore spot though (but ok).

elementary OS 6 set for a big overhaul, adding system-wide Flatpak support

Quoting: gustavoyaraujoFlatpak is a horrible way to distribute binaries. Appimage are the most interesting way to do that.
Appimages are not new comer friendly: they have to be chmodded to make 'em run. This alone is too much for a new user. Appimages are also not mandatorily sandboxed, so a security risk more or less.

Flatpaks and snaps are a thing, really. Both improving all the time too.

Quoting: LinuxerThis the best episode so far, by far. I noticed its up on lbry too already: what do you guys use (and do) to have that audio oscillator graphic as video??
Hey, glad you like it! :)

For the actual video it was simply FFmpeg. No other special program was used. Here was the entire line I used for it in case anyone else is interested:

ffmpeg -y -i audio.mp3 -i background_picture.png -filter_complex "[0:a]showwaves=s=3840x200:mode=line:colors=red|yellow[sw];[1][sw]overlay=(W-w)/2:(H-h)/2:format=auto,format=yuv420p[v]" -map "[v]" -r 60 -map 0:a -movflags +faststart -acodec copy video.mp4
Thanks very much! I suppose there is also an equivalent on doing that same through GUI also, for new comers. For example on OpenShot or Kdenlive. I wonder if also that approach could be demonstrated some time
