Hate to sound like a fanboy... But Valve is doing (almost) everything right.

As a "Linux Gamer" since day one of the Steam Beta on Linux, I'm so hyped what Valve has done for us. Can't wait for my invitation :)
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive updated, more tweaking for Steam Deck + Vulkan

Quoting: BogomipsJust tested it for 5 minutes, still stuttering for me. I think less than before with a good FPS gain but still not acceptable in competitive.I only play long matchmaking games and have barely any stutters. But I remember enabling the texture streaming option in video settings, which made it better in the beginning. Don't know, if this has any positive or negative effect now, though.

As a frequent CS:GO player, I have to admit that the recent updates really are doing a great job. After initial micro stutters on the Vulkan renderer, it's now butter smooth and delivers a nice FPS boost. I'm very happy with Valves current work on the Linux platform (not counting the render update fail a few weeks ago  ).
Mozilla looking to improve Twitch playback in Firefox

I regularly use Twitch on Firefox and often have issues. Can confirm the random loading failure of modules (sometimes surviving several page refreshes). Also very poor performance, especially when watching multiple streams in different tabs. Even worse, on AMD Renoir I have recurring crashes of the whole driver, which forces me to reboot the system (latest Firefox on X11 with hardware acceleration via VA-API, mesa 22, kernel 5.16rc8, but also happens on stable releases).
Twitch is really unenjoyable lately on Firefox. But I don't want to hop browser windows, so I endure it.

Civilization VI cross-play to return June 25 with a huge update

At least Civ 6 vanilla cross-play is working fine for me and plenty of other people as of now.
They literally only check four strings in a property file...
The only problem as of now is, that only Steam (Linux) to Steam (Windows) seems to work properly, since the Linux version does not have a join by code button in the multiplayer menu. Therefore only Steam friends are invitable via the ingame invite.
Other that that it is just working. No sync issues, no "version mismatch", victories are working as expected.
I played several rounds with my friend on Windows. Just faked the version strings in:
(version to 1.0.1.501, version str to 504666). That's literally all...

Steam Beta adds Vulkan shader processing

Excellent news! This stutter in the beginning of a new scene while using Proton is really annoying in some cases. If this is integrated well enough, I'm convinced that this improves the user experience by far. Again, great job Valve (now please also fix hardware accelerated in-home streaming for AMD users ^_^ ).
Chiaki, the open source and cross-platform PS4 Remote Play client now supports the PS4 7.0 update

On topic: I really appreciate Chiaki and used it already to play RDR successfully on my Linux desktop. However, I wish it would be possible to use 1080p on non-pro models, but I guess this is a Sony restriction :(

Quoting: chris.echozThis is really nice. Now my PS4 is a lot less annoying to use. To remove the final annoyance I think I will put my PS4 next to my servers because god damn is it noisy.I'm a new owner of a PS4 slim since three months and have never really played PS4 before. But lately I just realized, how quiet the slim is compared to the old and pro models. I was shocked how loud the fan of these models is. For me it would be unacceptable in the living room...

Cool, didn't knew that project. Just tried it out and it works perfectly, even with the PS4 connected via WiFi (5 GHz). Thanks dude, now I can play RDR while hanging out with my people in teamspeak :)
