Big news, finally!
Thank you Aspyr for keeping your promise. That's how you keep customers.

The charming theme park building game Parkitect has left Early Access, campaign included

That's super cool! Actually I own that game since one of the first betas (or was it even alphas?) and it was adorable back then, yet a little bit unstable. When the early access was released on Steam I already had about 15h of game play but lost interest since there was no real challenge because of the sandbox style.

But now there finally is a real campaign! I'm going to fire that thing up again and looking forward :)

Edit: Wow, there certainly is a lot of progress since then! Unfortunately, I encounter some graphical issues (black flickering) on Mesa 18.3-rc4 right now.

Valve have pushed out another Steam Play update with the 3.16-4 beta including corefonts support

Quoting: MerpDo you guys use the betas? Just wondering if it's worth switching from the stable version.
Sure, I'm using it all the time and at least in my case it works better than the "stable". E.g. GTA5 only works with the newer version of Proton on my system.

XCOM 2: War of the Chosen - Tactical Legacy Pack out now and with Linux support right away

Quoting: ryadI really wish I could get XCOM 2 up and running since I loved the XCOM:EW.
On my setup, it crashes while showing the XCOM splash screen no matter what I do. The options dialog box is working. Even the Feral support is at loss. In their defense: I use a non-supported distribution (Arch).

Exception thrown:
Installing breakpad exception handler for appid(steam)/version(1536436120)
free(): invalid next size (fast)
XCOM2: dumped to "<DUMP_FILE>"
XCOM2: crash reporter "<STEAM_PATH>/steam/steamapps/common/XCOM 2/bin/feral_linux_crash_reporter" launching
Game crashed, if possible email [[email protected]] with the crash file [<DUMP_FILE>] and details
Game removed: AppID XXXXXX "", ProcID XXXXX

Things I already tried:
  • loading via steam-native & steam-runtime

  • verify game file integrity

  • run in window mode

  • changing the resolution

  • unchecking "always show this dialog box"

  • using various LD_LIBRARY_PATH combinations, including from steam-runtime and GOL

Setup: RX 580 @ Mesa 18.2, Arch x64, Xfce4

Does anyone perhaps know the problem and have a possible solution? Thanks in advance!

Have you tried to set launch options to:
LD_PRELOAD="libpthread.so.0 libGL.so.1" %command% --system-asound ?

If not click right mouse button on XCOM 2 in the library, select properities from context menu, in the dialog click "set launch options" and paste the line above.

Edit: where to use that command.
Thank you very much, I appreciate it! I've already tried various launch options including yours :-) Unfortunately it's still crashing.
You can try to strace it -- maybe it is relativly simple library problem.
Install strace "pacman -S strace"
and set command to:
strace %command% &> ./strace.log
and look at the final lines of the log for which library caused error.
I wanted to say thanks to you and all other comments for your constructive suggestions. In the meantime I could fix my issue! ^_^
This is, what I've done to get XCOM2 running:
  • Verify integrity of game files (again)

  • Build and install latest Mesa 18.3 drivers from Git

  • Install Feral Game Mode

  • Run the game with following launch options: LD_PRELOAD="/usr/lib/libgamemodeauto.so $HOME/.local/share/Steam/ubuntu12_32/steam-runtime/amd64/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libidn.so.11.6.6" %command%

Best regards,
Ryad

Final Fantasy VI worked like a charm.
Final Fantasy X unfortunately not (yet ^_^)

Can't wait to further test the damn out of Proton.

The Linux version of Civilization VI should get cross-platform online play in the next few weeks

I've been waiting for this since the release.
Can't stop waiting :D

The new Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Panorama UI is now available on Linux
13 Jul 2018 at 11:10 am UTC

I could play two matchmaking games yesterday with panorama. Really enjoy the new look and feel.

However, at the moment I need to verify the gamecache integrity everytime I launch the game (1 to 3 files are reaquired every time), otherwise the game crashes on launch. Haven't tested with Steam beta though.

Nevertheless, I appreciate that updated UI.
