Total War Saga: Thrones of Britannia to be on Linux "one to two months" after the Windows release

Quoting: HoriI want Rome 2 on Linux :( Or a new Rome 3, why not?
Arent we still supposed to be getting Rome 2 and to be honest Attilla is Rome 2 with a skin pack and there is a mod to that changes it to Rome 2 factions. Dont think Rome 3 is on the horizon more likely to get a new Warhammer or Medieveal 3. Personally I would love for Creative to get the game of thrones licence and make a total war in that universe.

Quoting: liamdaweOn the subject of Vulkan adoption, it is interesting to note that the current Vulkan Developer Day in Montréal is actually being hosted by Ubisoft. Doesn't mean we will see their games on Linux (not what I'm getting at), but it does hopefully mean more of the bigger companies like them are looking more into it - therefore helping a possible future port from the likes of Feral and others.
Who knows? Maybe they will even walk away with a newly discovered passion for software freedom.

No its ubisoft about as much chance as Bethesda turning round and saying you know what lets give linux a try.

Quoting: fagnerlnHas some time that I used Wine, 1.9 I guess. Can someone say if this version works with Origin?
Not for me :/
use lutris run the script problems are over bf 1 is not a problem nor is mass effect 3 etc
When you talk about Battlefield 1 and say it's no problem, do you mean the singleplayer or the multiplayer?
Yeah seems to work keep in mind i dont play mp shooters other than blastic overkill and doi so its not my type of fps so i literally got into a match spawned had some asshole tell me what he was doing to my mother then i bounced but it seemed to work. I stress i followed the instructions on lutris script to the letter. I would suggest you do the same if you must have bf1 mp

The developer of Helium Rain gave an update on their sales, low overall sales but a high Linux percentage

Quoting: Mountain ManWait, they're complaining about low sales, yet they're still in "early access"? Do developers even understand what "early access" is?
Well I am not going to speak for this developmer but certainly some view early access as a paid beta that way if it does not suceed they can abandon it. There are literally hundreds of abandoned early access games on steam that one point or another had active development then the sales dried up and the devs moved on.

Ahh clarifaction from the dev this is the type of relationship we want as linux gamers ones that are happy to take bug reports etc. Not one that shoves a linux port out then clasps their hands together and go well linux port is done no reason to ever come to that.

Wow so much content given away for free but seriously, stop spending your time on free stuff and start with your next game they have already given so much stuff away for free and i dont want a devloper/indie studio with talent like this go out of business.

Quoting: Whitewolfe80You are right if someone is coming from windows linux seems very complicated bc as you say they are used to double clicking and just pressing next when prompted. The closest linux gets to that are deb files but that is pretty much for basic productivity software rarely games.
No, the closest Linux gets is installers of course. In fact I'd assume most new Linux gamers install their games through Steam nowadays, just as they did on Windows. For the rest, I think GOG has mojosetup-based graphical installers for all of their Linux releases, and itch has a client and so on. Which means you're still pretty much spreading FUD.

Remember, "Linux isn't like Windows" isn't the same as "Linux is complicated". That would make MacOS just as complicated, and ChromeOS as well. For basic users Linux is no harder than Windows. Of course, getting used to something new always takes time, especially if it's something non-trivial like an operating system. Even if you're switching to something better.
In some parts i agree but i have helped more than a few windows users and and if it cant be solved by a double click or by some user friendly gui they are not interested. I know at least 20 people if i showed then the linux terminal would say fuck that too stupidly fiddly. I never found fiddly but it I did have a big learning curve to teach myself linux and i have an IT degree there are some small over laps granted its much easier now than it was even five years ago.
