Quoting: BeamboomThat music, though. Hopefully that will be possible to mute, or I won't even get past the tutorial.
I loved the sid-tune vibe I got from the music. Some great tunes here: http://level4.jojati.com/sidplayer/#delta [External Link] (hit "Choose a SID at the bottom left of the page)

The developer of 'Eastward', a charming looking adventure RPG sounds positive about a Linux version

Been following the dev on Twitter for a while now and really loving the look of this. Actually, it turned out I was following Starbound publisher, Chucklefish and they've started tweeting about Eastward recently.

Looks great, fingers crossed that this is an easy port for the dev.

I only really noticed the graphical corruption on the main menu. It's not really all that distracting when you're actually fighting hordes of horrific rabbits.

That's an excellent video. Just the perfect amount of cheese. Love it!

Book of Demons no longer getting a native Linux port, developer plans on 'supporting' Steam Play (updated)

Just revisiting this again and realised that I'm angry at their play-testers for pretending to be running Ubuntu, but later were discovered to be running Arch. That's a bit of a dick move and it's backfired here spectacularly: the devs have been scared off launching for Linux, believing that this might be a common practice. And honestly, I think they might be right.

I'm now revising my earlier suggestion that devs "only need to support Ubuntu". Because people will simply lie in order to get support. And taking a hard line on those people will just foster ill will.

As much as I hate to say it, I think Thing Trunk are doing the right thing here. Especially if they're willing to have another go after release.

Great update from the developers. It's tough being a small studio, and way too easy to sit here as a gamer and criticise their coding, experience, resources, commitment or whatever.

It's probably even more frustrating for them - if they'd just announced for Windows and Mac, this game wouldn't even have hit our radar and life would have gone on, everyone happy. We're only getting agitated because they TRIED TO SUPPORT OUR PLATFORM.

I don't like the way it's turned out, and no, I'm not (yet) paying for Steam Play titles, so they won't be getting my money. But kudos to them for trying. And you know what, maybe their next title will benefit from their attempts?

But it would be a shame if all the grief they went through, and all the negative comments on this very site actually contributed to put them off any future support.

The only aspect of their decision that bothers is locking out GOG. But I suppose if they support Proton, perhaps DXVK will offer a solution there too.

I just can't bring myself to buy a windows-only title, which is a shame, because I love the look of this. I've made one exception in the past five years - Doom. And I only bought that during the hype of Steam Play a few months back! I've played 80 minutes of it. It's good, but I regret the purchase.

I realise that I don't have much buying "power" with the tux-then-bucks mantra, but it really sums up how I feel.

That said, I am signed up to Humble Monthly, so I'll get a handful of windows-only titles "for free" that way and that's about the only way Steam Play will really affect me.

Oh, and Mirv's comment that this ties Linux support to Steam. That's not good. That's really, really not good.

Unsung Warriors, an upcoming 2D action-adventure has a free prologue available and it's pretty good

This is absolutely superb. There's about 45 minutes of gameplay on there for free and it's just an extremely satisfying game to play.

@cprn: Installing Itch takes like a minute and works very like Steam (find a game, click install, click play). You won't regret it for gems like this and the upcoming Gravity Ace game. Not to mention Dicey Dungeons and various other lovelies.

Meh. Bought this genuinely believing that the PvE was worthwhile. And in beta, it was. But no more and I've no appetite to go back to the game with such focus on PvP.

Quoting: ArticleThankfully though, this situation is actually really quite rare.
Not sure if that statement is really true when you're writing at least one such article every week as of late.
Examples? I'm only aware of Rust, which was a couple of months back? At least one article a week?? What am I missing...?
