The chaos and action of Total War: Warhammer II makes for a gripping strategy title

Quoting: GuestFor me, this game was running very poorly and also crashed a lot. I was really waiting for it but it turned out to be a disappointment...
It ran poorly on a GTX1080?? Even with the higher resolution, I'm surprised by that. I run my 1080 at 1920x1080, but there isn't a single game I've ever played, native or otherwise that doesn't wildly exceed 60fps.

The challenging action-platformer 'Damsel' is now available on Linux

This looks vaguely Dead Cell-sy. Beautiful background graphics too, really smooth movement. I guess it's on the slightly pricey side, but the quality here suggests it might be worth it.

Did you get a key, Liam? Wondering if we'll get a review. But with 34 positive reviews on Steam and not a single negative review, I suspect I'll end up pulling the trigger on this regardless. Just have to tear myself away from what is becoming a horrible trio-addiction of Slay the Spire, Overwatch and 7 Days to Die...

Quoting: Nezchandev, who's already got a game out for Linux, is totally gonna forget about Linux.
Because it has never happened so far. ;-)
You keep putting smilies, but it's clear you're actually serious, which is a shame. To be clear why I say so, it's a far cry to compare Kitsune Games to those less reputable devs in this case. Not only have they already released MidBoss with Linux support, they're also developing in a well-supported framework AND finally, this stretch goal wasn't for Linux support - they committed to that anyway. The stretch goal was for simultaneous launch.

Also, unrelated, but their lead dev is pretty cool and often tweets about game development, which I enjoy. I have confidence they'll deliver.

Tower of Time, the rather good RPG had a big update to improve performance

I really enjoyed this and got about 10 hours in, then was distracted by something else and never went back. I found the combat to be challenging and generally balanced, although some "optional" objectives felt pretty mandatory at times and made some fights much, much harder.

I'll have to revisit this now that it's had its big update.

Quoting: Power-Metal-GamesDoes anybody know when Valve will release a new Proton version?

Also, what happen with the guy who got job to work on the audio? After he got employed, we never heard about him again..
Ethan Lee still posts on Twitter quite a bit [External Link]. He hasn't really said much about his new job though.

I have an Overwatch launcher in my quick bar now, thanks to Lutris. It feels native. So impressive.

7 Days to Die experimental alpha 17 due next week and it's a massive overhaul to the game

Looking forward to tomorrow night, but sadly I'm travelling tomorrow and will probably miss the stream. I think I get into my hotel at around 8pm so the stream might still be running... but then everything really depends on the hotel wifi! We'll see.

Either way, I hope it runs well! I know what I'll be doing this weekend!

Open-world single-player space-combat RPG 'Starsector' has a major new release out and it's awesome

What const and denyasis said: some of my favourite space games are 2D. SPAZ, Reassembly, Captain Forever Remix, Nimbatus, Gravity Ace, Galak-Z, Drox Operative... there are probably others I love too.

3D space sims can be amazing if they're done well, but their 2D brethren tend to keep my interest far longer, perhaps because so few 3D games are done well. Perhaps the added complexity trips them up? Who knows.

Quoting: WorMzyWill be interesting to see if The Fun Pimps actually come through this time. Historically they've been very lousy with their Linux/Mac support, uncommunicative when they break the various builds, and pretty shitty to people who ask them about what problems they're facing. It would be nice to see that they've grown as developers and actually test their builds before they release them, and are open and communicative when things go wrong. They might actually make it off my blacklist if they can demonstrate that.
The last bad experience was the A14 shader cock up which Alloc noted above. For all the alphas I've been a part of (A14, 15 and 16), there's always been a dedicated "Linux Issues" stickied forum post which cuts down on the noise hugely and helps them fix any problems.

Fingers crossed the game is maturing to the point where such issues are fewer.

I just got this about three days ago and completely blown away at how awesome it is. So addictive. Some luck (like FTL), but nowhere near as punishing if a few things go against you and you always feel like you could recover. So much excellent in this game. Really impressed.
