Frenetic twin stick shooter and platformer ‘RIVE’ was released on Steam, it's Two Tribes final game

You know, it's a weird announcement for sure. They've got a back catalogue consisting of Toki Tori (puzzler), Rush (puzzler), Edge (puzzler), and Toki Tori 2 (puzzler).

Now I own three of those four, but must have gotten them in bundles because seriously... puzzler games aren't my thing.

Now they come away with an absolutely jaw-dropping twin-stick schmup, finally, a Two Tribes game I want to play... and it's the last thing they'll make!?

Valve have made some big changes to the Steam Reviews system
13 Sep 2016 at 12:38 pm UTC

Have they done anything about EA reviews skewing overall results when the developers make crucial changes mid-EA causing reviewing bombing, when it in fact, it's a good change for the released game?

The "Recent" system works for well-established games making unpopular changes (looking at you, Payday 2), but it's no use when you have 1000 bad EA-based reviews and 10 good launch reviews. No-one is going to touch that game, basically.

And here's the version I used to play on the Amiga - Projectyle:

Less tactical, because the fire button always rammed you towards the puck, but you could move around to line things up (if the other players let you!). Played hours of that with my two mates. Not many three-player party games out there, but this was classic.

[Edit: And back on topic - what a save at 2m 20, Liam! Magic!]

We Happy Few to release on Linux after the full release, not during Early Access

Not that I would buy a game in EA anyway, but it's always a bit worrying when a dev feels the need to launch on one platform then port it over. All supported platforms should progress at the same rate, really, or we're risking the usual lag after release before the Linux version comes out.

This looks great though - it's got a nice Bioshock Infinite vibe. I'll be scooping this up on release.

The developers of Armello are facing a bit of a backlash over the DLC not coming to GOG

Not touching these devs with a barge pole. Stay clear.

The Witcher 3 was apparently never planned for Linux

Quoting: mr-eggAFAIk from a discussion on reddit, Aspyr are fore-filling obligations and that's why you saw LOF but they were bought/licensed by Apple. Don't take my word for it though.
Yikes, really? This again? "Bought by Apple" was an April Fool's joke that Aspyr ran five years ago. Jeez - I even commented on the Reddit discussion [External Link] you're talking about saying as much.

Aspyr must simply think that either there's more money in the Apple scene, or more likely that their expertise lies with... Apple's shitty version of Vulkan? I can't remember its name.

I hope they come back and do something great for Linux, but it's not looking great right now.

GoG have ever played lip service to Linux - first denying all possibility of selling Linux games, then actively stripping out features that would help Linux gamers buy Windows versions of wine-compatible games. Finally, out of the blue, they support some Linux titles, but still no sign of Galaxy and most titles take months or more to hit the GoG shelves after the Steam release (although this last is more about DRM and possibly affects Windows releases too).

So, no, I'm not a fan, despite the general no-DRM ethos. I own a handful of GoG titles, about a hundred Humble Bundle (from HiB) and over 600 on Steam, the bulk of which (around 400+) are Linux titles bought in the last four years. I realise it's not a completely fair comparison because GoG were late to the party, but you go where the action is and I don't think GoG are providing much to shout out about.

Quoting: tmtvlWell, that's the issue with Linux, I guess: ten different users will have ten different experiences.
Not my experience at all. A game will have differences between AMD and NVidia true. And some Arch users will experience issues if they refuse to install Pulseaudio...

But if you're running the officially supported operating system, no difference, at all, across four PCs with a variety of set ups, from Nvidia, SoundBlaster Audio, Intel, WIFI, ethernet, screen sizes... it's pretty seamless from my perspective.

All that "linux is so hard to test against" bullshit really rubs me the wrong way. It is, in fact, a much simpler prospect than Windows - one supported O/S, three graphics drivers.

Quoting: toorLooks like a bad copy of ICO
Or it might be a really good copy of ICO. I won't know until they fix the Linux issues because I won't touch it with a barge pole otherwise. Shame.
