DoubleFine seem to have attracted a bit of a mess with Psychonauts 2 funding

I thought the video was superb. It's a real shame it's made by a GamerGate supporter (and general misogynist judging from his twitter feed - assuming not all GamerGaters are misogynists, I suppose).
But yeah, the video makes it clear that some extremely shady practices are at foot here. You can't compare this to Kickstarter, because a) Kickstarter is up front on the risks and b) Kickstarter equates to a pre-order, whereas Fig is hyping itself as a share vehicle. Two very different things.

Quoting: burzmaliI haven't seen these allegations, but I've read the investment information on fig and talked it over with some finance and investment folks and the long and short of it was crowd fund if you want but stay away from the investment opportunity. Basically, best case, you break even in 5 years maybe even make some money in a decade or so. Worst case, fig folds before Psychonauts 2 ships and you get nothing and you have no recourse. Most likely, you never break even and shareholder lawsuits against fig bleed them dry over the course of the years.I think there's a few people commenting here that haven't watched the video, not just yourself!
No serious investor would consider this opportunity, the return is pitiful, and the risks are very high.

Insurgency FPS adds official Steam Controller support, better gamepad support overall

Insurgency is absolutely superb. Great graphics, engaging maps, nightmodes, loads of game types.
I primarily love it because of the co-op modes. My days of PvP ended with CS 1.6, but the co-op modes really encourage teamwork and use of the microphone to communicate. Get a good server with some communicative players and you'll have a blast.

Steam Controller updated, you can name it, take configs with you, adjust the light & bleep and more

Quoting: fleskMunts did move this one into the completed section, but nope, we never covered it, at least when I was writing for TFC. In fact, we've barely covered any of Ynnis' titles [External Link] for some reason, although I notice HadBabits covered Kill The Bad Guy a few months ago.The game itself was likely covered by one of the past Funding Crowd articles, but here's a refresher.Doesn't look like it was. I can't even find it in the crowdfunding wiki muntdefems maintained. They announced Linux support [External Link] one week into the campaign, so that's probably why we missed it.
It does look gorgeous though.

I'm a bit gutted about Deserted - bizarrely it's one of the more intriguing titles, but only gets the bonus mention, probably because it's doomed as a project. Hopefully it will live on. My kind of game - looks like a cross between Another World and Transistor.

Damn! I might have to get this now... looks superb. It reminds me of Gran Turismo 2 - long tracks, great variety of cars. Presumably it does the whole "career progression" thing too. Argh! It's Christmas - money is stupidly tight.

We actually covered this back in July 2014 on the Funding Crowd - and back then the Linux version wasn't confirmed, so it's superb to see this one come good.
Garry Newman, developer of Rust & Garry's Mod on supporting Linux, possibly not for future games
6 Dec 2015 at 3:12 pm UTC
Glad to see he's wising up, actually. I'd rather he stick with that attitude - take the SteamOS logo off Garry's Mod and Rust until he's willing to offer the same quality on those titles that Windows users enjoy. But I doubt it. He's only talking about future titles here, so G-Mod and Rust will continue to be sold as a supported platform, yet continue to play second class citizen.

Quoting: maodzedunIf he'd said that, he'd have gotten a ton of sympathy and offers of help. But no, he's only saying that now after several months, if not years, taking the absolute piss out of Linux while making money by offering utterly appalling Linux versions of his Windows games.Quoting: XylemonGod forbid anybody criticize Linux. Anyway, I didn't know who he was, I'm just pointing out that it's tiresome to see all these toxic replies any time somebody says: "I don't have the skill/capacity to support Linux".Quoting: maodzedunI wonder it it's possible for a news like that to not be followed by passive aggressive trolling... Guess not.God forbid anyone criticize the "great" Garry Newman.

No SteamOS/Linux icon, but it's 60% off for the next couple of days. Looks great though, slightly reminiscent of Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet, which I loved.
My First Hours With A Steam Link

Essentially, this is a case of YMMV. A lot of folk are more tolerant of the audio and stuttering issues than others, but so far, around 130 positive reviews are somewhat balanced by around 35 negative reviews. So 1 in four are having a hard enough time to say "stay clear".
And it sounds like this review is one in the four.

Quoting: longshot902Reviews like this really need to go into more detail and provide more data on what is being tested. Simply stating "experience is very disappointing" and giving no real information should be avoided. Here's the purchase page for the Steam Link [External Link]. It says "Wired connection recommended". It doesn't say "Properly provisioned, QoS capable, gigabit network essential". A "5 port piece of crap switch" will still be (way) better than the WIFI minimum requirements, so why focus on that? Incidentally, it looks like the Steam Link itself only supports 100Mb, so Gigabit is even more of a red herring here.
What network equipment lives between your host and link? Is it a 5 port piece of crap switch (or worse hub), or a managed/smart switch with proper QoS,
I run my steamlink with a properly provisioned network and a fairly good host computer <snip>.
