Magicka 2 Looks Like It Will Have Lower Performance On AMD Cards

A developer: I took the liberty of replacing the Nvidia 660GTX in my Linux machine for our Radeon 270X and ran some tests.
Doesn't this statement, again, shows that many developers develop on Nvidia first, then try with an AMD card and are disappointed - or even blame AMD for bad performance?
Possibly - I'm not sure how much you "code" for a specific manufacturer though. Also, the R9 270 is about a hundred dollars more expensive that the GTX card (http://www.hwcompare.com/15671/geforce-gtx-660-vs-radeon-r9-270x/ [External Link]). You certainly wouldn't expect "half" the performance.

Great to see such diverse testing though.

Can't wait for this one. The first game was absolutely mental in multiplayer. One of those games that you can't really "come back" to though. You learn these crazy 6-button combos for massive damage, healing, shields, or whatever, then you don't play it for a month, sit back down, and realise that you can't remember any of it!

I think this new version allows you to store macros to certain spells? That might solve that problem.

Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition Looks Set For Release This Month

Yeah, I'm and sure they said that they'd spent all that time on the Extended/Enhanced Edition so that their platform would be agnostic for future titles. And then, before the new Edition is even close to ready, they launch a Kickstarter with that kind of message.

Make up your mind, goddamit!? :D

Worst thing about all this though is the developer reinforcement - "waah, our game hardly sold any Linux units... we're not supporting Linux again". Although I suspect most studios are seeing past that lie now.

It's October, right? Steam Machines are going to fix all this, right? Right??

Quoting: DrMcCoyTheir second kickstarter is not mentioning GNU/Linux at all. There never will be support.
Actually their second kickstarter did have FAQ entry quite clearly stating that their sole focus would be windows and that they would perhaps consider Mac and Linux after release. Maybe. I think the language was something like "we wouldn't rule it out".

So... D: OS2 expected Dec 2016, give it the same 8 to 10 month slippage that the first game experienced, add 15 to 18 months for the Linux version... so roughly Christmas 2018. Hmmm.

I'll pass.

This is... 15 months after its release on Windows, right? No wonder I'd forgotten about this, other than the occasional reminder popping up here or r/linux_gaming. Not sure if I'll pick this up, but if it's as good as everyone was making out, then it's probably worth punting some money at them.

Provided it's a solid release. I'll be waiting a few more weeks then. Maybe a little Christmas present from me to me...

Sales Statistics From Super Win the Game, All Platforms Did Badly

It's not my type of game, and I don't personally ever plan to buy it. I imagine a lot of people also feel the same way about it. That's not to say it isn't a good game, I just burnt myself out on retro type games a long time ago.
And if we're being honest - a large portion of Linux titles from the 1500 on Steam will fall into this category. That's what makes this kind of story pretty frustrating: AAA houses could look at these figures as indicative, but I suspect that the reality is that if you launch a AAA game on Linux, you'll see a bigger slice of sales going to AAA-starved Linux gamers.

I've just dropped £23 on SOMA and had £35 tucked away for Alien:Isolation until the delay. If I was still gaming on Windows, these awesome games would be vying with the likes of GTA IV, CoD, Battlefield and upcoming titles like Subnautic, Vermintide and many, many others.

The game left me needing a shot of rum and to sit in the brightest room imaginable, so I would call that a win for the developer.
You guys probably dont realize how much dedication Liam puts to his job <3
With SOMA right around the corner, Liam had better stock up on rum...
