Gothic RPG roguelike Darkest Dungeon coming soon to Linux

I even searched Humble and found the title, but on Humble, it's just a link to a Steam key.
Very odd. Thanks for pointing that out though. The article's been updated to remove the DRM reference.

Quoting: Renzatic GearIt up on GOG, so the DRM-free promise looks to already be covered.Great catch. In addition to the tweets and forums searches, I also visited their webpage where "Purchase" takes you directly to Steam and finally a Google search for "Darkest Dungeon DRM-free" which highlighted a wishlist item on GoG, but not the title!

Quoting: PublicNuisanceLoving what I see of the game so far. Supposed to have a DRM free version of the LInux copy available from what I can see which will check all of my boxes. February is shapiong up to be a good month for games. Firewatch and this have me very happy.Yeah, highjacking a little here, but Firewatch looks AMAZING. Can't wait for that. And of course, XCom2 this Friday. Superb.
The Vanishing of Ethan Carter Linux & SteamOS port has been put on hold

It really doesn't help that quite a few folk on Steam forums come out with "do a Linux port, then I'll buy it", when there's a pretty obvious icon next to their name that highlights the fact that they've already bought it. It happens in a lot of the "Please give us a Linux version" threads I'm subscribed to.
Some devs might do a Linux version out the kindness of their heart, but most studios will want to see some kind of return on effort. So a thread with 200 pleas to make a Linux version will lose a lot of credibility when 50%+ of those posts have already bought it.

Quoting: PublicNuisanceSad news. I've been putting off playing my copy hoping for a Linux version. You win some you lose some.I'm glad you're up front that you've already bought it.

It's also pretty annoying that main store page shows me a bunch of Windows titles. I wish there was a way to "stop showing me irrelevant stuff". Obviously no-one like to live in a bubble, but I just don't care, at all, about what's coming/out/on-sale if it's Windows only.
It would be like shopping for a book on Amazon, but with no way to filter out the languages you don't speak. Can't understand Valve's thinking here.

No, Linux is not at 1900 games on Steam, we didn't get 100 games in nine days

in order to preserve the quality of the website, the article was deleted absolutely nothing happened. The article is still up, despite Michael himself commenting in the article's comment/forum thing with words to the effect of: "Steam must have changed the way they count by relevance, because I use a bookmark to count the titles".
But the article remains unchanged.

Quoting: tomtommeLucky you that you are not in it for the money. Lucky you that you do not have to rush out content. Others have to, to make a living. AS long as they also deliver quality content most of The time some mistakes in between are fine with me. On phoronix the oversight was instantly cought by a reader in the comments. Its easy to say that you knew the number is wrong, after you commented there too. I do not geht why you make a story out of this.Interesting that after the reader pointed it out,

Arcen Games, developer of AI War & The Last Federation laying off staff

Quoting: burzmaliThe problem with Arcen's titles is that the feel low effort. I know that they aren't low effort, but every time I see recycled UIs and hear recycled music it cheapens the experience.I only own Bionic Dues and it's excellent. Really beautiful experience. Their plea has led me to look at their game catalogue again, and when I get through this weekend and get paid, I'm pretty sure I'll be picking up at least one more of their titles.

Garry Newman of Rust and Garry's Mod regrets supporting Linux

But this is the bit that really gets my goat (and love the irony that he says thsi right after "I'm not trolling" ). Garry says:
a) Pay the same as Windows customers; but
b) Suck up an inferior experience regardless, because Facepunch IN THEIR OWN WORDS can't be bothered to properly support Linux.
Unbelievable.

Quoting: reaVerYou attacked the characteristics of the author rather than his opinion or the basis of his opinion. While according to the disagreement pyramid, it is not namecalling, the explanatory note explains it may as well be. It doesn't constitute to the argument in one way or another and will only validate him (at least to himself).I didn't see a character attack? The editorial points out prior attitudes expressed by the developer and if that sounds like a character assassination, it's because Garry has a terrible prior record regarding expressing his feelings about this small portion of his paying customers.
Quoting: reaVerI'm not going to defend the guy for what he has said, but as a company employee I've also had my experiences with a very hostile GNU community. You adding to this, will not help in the slightest. I can understand you're passionate about the platform and the direction it has been going into. But occasionally; just calm down a little.Let's be clear here - this article doesn't "add" anything. It's reports on Garry's already public statements. Considering the editorial in question is by a paying customer, I'd say the tone was remarkably calm. This article isn't the catalyst here. Garry does that bit all by himself.
But this is the bit that really gets my goat (and love the irony that he says thsi right after "I'm not trolling" ). Garry says:
We get shit because we don't properly support linux because it makes up less than 1% of our audience. We get a lot of negativity from the linux community because we don't spend as much time testing on it as we do on Windows.Let's read that again, because it's so true. "We get shit because we don't properly support Linux". So we're somehow, in the eyes of Facepunch, expected to
a) Pay the same as Windows customers; but
b) Suck up an inferior experience regardless, because Facepunch IN THEIR OWN WORDS can't be bothered to properly support Linux.
Unbelievable.

As for Garry, he got £1 of my money for Garry's Mod on a winter sale about 8 years ago and I haven't touched anything by him or Facepunch since. He's made it clear over and over that he has blinkers only for Windows and nothing else matters. Facepunch is all about the money and while many will argue that all businesses are, there has be room for ethics, corporate responsibility and positive culture - Facepunch has shown a scarcity of all three.
That doesn't make me toxic, by the way. I'm simply avoiding a shitty company who make shitty products.

Quoting: GuestStuff like this belongs on the forums. GOL front page should be about the good stuff coming to Linux.I disagree. That would just be positive reinforcment. I like how this site shows the good and bad in a (mostly) neutral light. I say mostly, because there are occasional editorials, and that's what editorials are for. Opinion.

Torment: Tides of Numenera launches in Early Access without Linux support, coming much later

I backed this in March 2013 for $20 (let's be generous and say £15). It was expected delivery for Dec 2014. So, already a year beyond their earliest estimation, it's entering early access for £31.
As Keyrock notes then, as long as it launches for Linux on day 1, I'm not fussed about this move. I didn't pay for beta access, so I shouldn't be hollering for it now. But as always, the lack of Linux support in their Early-Access period leads me to believe that Linux could be lumbered with bugs already squashed on the EA platform of choice, Windows.
Time will tell, I suppose.
