I think I end up buying this now - great news.
It's £5.89 on Steam, but it seems a better option to buy it from GameAgent.com here [External Link], where it's fifty pence cheaper and, I think, gives more money directly to Aspyr.
That said, I'm not sure on the delivery mechanism. Does buying on GameAgent give you a Steam key anyway?

Brian Fargo Crowdfunds For Classic RPG Series Sequel "The Bard's Tale"

My fault for copy/pasting a line from an interview Brian Fargo gave on the internet...
As for the confusion I caused by suggesting that the 2004 Bard's Tale game was bad - I should have expanded on that. It's not a terrible game, but besides the name, it has absolutely nothing to do with the original series. InXile didn't have rights to the IP, so they created a Bard's Tale that bore none of the original series style, gameplay, locations or lore. How they got away with calling it "The Bards Tale" still isn't clear to me. Despite not being awful, I still regret buying it. But looking at the video of this game, it's hard to believe I'd regret backing this game.

Quoting: ShmerlNot Gallic though, but Gaelic. And it's great that they invited Julie Fowlis to work on the game.Being Scottish, you'd think I would have caught that! :D
The song in the trailer is a translation of the poem from The Bard's Tale I intro:

I hated/loved Amnesia and I think this will be a repeat of the entire love/hate cycle. Amazing games, but as others have said, I literally can't play for more than an hour or so before I need a breather and a calm down...

Quoting: fleskUmbra looks damn sweet and that apocalyptic form is epic! I don't often back (or play) action RPGs, but I think I might have to make an exception for this one.Yep, I was gobsmacked by the graphics and imagination when I was researching that - and it's right up my street too. So many fine Gems and Biggies in this one. My wallet be hurting!

Still using an old Xbox360 wired controller. The only issue I've had with it is that Escape Goat 2 doesn't recognise it when it starts up and I have to unplug/plug the controller to get past the annoying "please use a controller" screen.
Games that you must play with a controller...
Mark of the Ninja, Escape Goat 2, Guacamelee, Dust: An Elysian Tale, Rogue Legacy, PixelJunk: Shooter, Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet, Type:Rider, Fez.
All fanstastic, and all play brilliantly with a controller.
From my console days, I'd say two or three of the most satisfying games I've played in terms of how they feel are God of War, Batman: Arkham Asylum/City, and Darksiders. I'm pretty hyped that two out of those three franchises are making the jump!

The Dying Light Linux Performance Patch Is Glorious, GOL Sneak Peek

I'd have assumed they'd want to make more of a song and dance about it when it comes out.

Quoting: pete910And.....I saw a patch downloading yesterday too, but the performance seemed generally unchanged (it's pretty playable on my system already, so perhaps I just didn't notice the improvement). But since there was no associated announcement on their news page, I'm not actually sure it was this performance patch.
It's the same on AMD, Crap!!!!!
Presuming the patch today was it that is
I'd have assumed they'd want to make more of a song and dance about it when it comes out.

Brilliant review. I think you may have tipped me towards buying this! I'll probably play through Spec Ops: The Line first, then I'll be looking for something new. Funnily enough, like Flesk, I'm also about halfway through Outland, but I'm finding that game a tiny bit repetitive 6 hours in.

Quoting: IgnisAh, yeah, I meant mage-like abilities. All that once-per-rest abilities stuff was just tedious.Quoting: scaineWasteland 2 is excellent - I enjoyed it more than Pillars of Eternity which I found a bit opaque in terms of putting an effective team together. Some of the fight in PoE are just game-stoppers if you haven't pre-healed your characters and even others are almost "quit and restart" challenging if your team isn't effective. I found that a bit off putting.Your party automatically heals after every battle using your remaining health, or do you mean health itself? The only thing I hated, personally, was last level Caed Nua boss, dealing "lol you die" area damage is way too cheap. I did beat it eventually, though.

To all the Kickstarter naysayers, I think you're over-reacting. Sure, I think we were taken on a ride by some developers who have no track record on Linux. I could mention 7 Days to Die, Contagion or Skullgirls here. But for each such set back, there's been several solid deliveries - Wasteland 2, Shadowrun, Pillars of Eternity or any of the Double Fine entries. And of course while it's easy to be disillusioned after so long, let's not forget that many of the no-shows are still promising to try to get something out of the door, so it's not all doom and gloom.

Quoting: IgnisI've recently finished Pillars of eternity, could use another game, but I'm not holding my hopes high with this title… Would be nice, I suppose. But then again, I still have a Freedom planet for now even if it's not an RPG :}Wasteland 2 is excellent - I enjoyed it more than Pillars of Eternity which I found a bit opaque in terms of putting an effective team together. I think the forum post which was linked to strikes an apologetic tone and they're clearly wanting to support Linux now, which is good. But it's easy for me to say that, because I didn't back this, so I've not had any promises of support broken by a Kickstarter pledge which to this day remains mostly meaningless.
Still looking forward to buying this though and it sounds like they're trying to climb a steep learning curve to deliver a product, so I remain hopeful.
