Manjaro Linux and Star Labs team up for their Linux-focused hardware

Quoting: scratchiDo Star Labs use coreboot? I don't see any mention of it anywhere on their site...
I don't believe so. I was moreso hoping that if coreboot support for Ryzen matures we might start seeing Ryzen chips being offered by the likes of Purism or System76.

I hope this company continues to grow and release new products. If the Lite had a lower-end Ryzen chip and supported NVMe drives (I don't know that it doesn't) I'd be all over it.

I hope Google is still working towards getting coreboot working for their Ryzen-based chromebooks as that may be the catalyst needed to start seeing Ryzen-based premium Linux offerings.

Quoting: dubigrasuFor whatever reason I get better input response (less lag) on PUBG than on Destiny, is actually surprisingly good, even with the mouse.
I noticed this too. It's very responsive, especially compared to D2.

It appears that Valve are preparing Half-Life: Alyx for Linux

Quoting: BeamboomWow - perfect news. I received my Index TODAY! I actually started downloading Alyx but I'll cancel it then and wait for the proper version.

I got plenty to play in the meantime. Both Super Hot and Serious Sam VR (the two I've tried so far) are AWESOME.
I'm blown away by the tracking precision too - it's like watching my own hands!
Longbow in Valve's "The Lab" is my favorite game to show people on their first attempt at VR. That, the slingshot game in the lab and SuperHot are a guaranteed blast.

Quoting: JuliusYeah, this is used in the super cool 199$ Pinebook Pro laptop, can't wait to get mine with Manjaro preinstalled in two weeks :)
I've been enjoying the i3 spin on mine. I highly recommend the Nvme adapter + a small drive if you can justify it. The Manjaro Arm emmc installer for the PBP can then be written to an sdcard and booted to install onto the NVMe.

Destiny is unfortunately not a great example of visual quality on Stadia. The main benefit Stadia has over consoles is 60FPS, but that's about it. It's comparable to about medium settings on the Windows build. Their vulkan implementation was brand new and can only improve.

Bungie did a deep dive into porting to Stadia.

Quoting: dubigrasuAnother thing that counts for me is the codec used. From what I understand the default codec should be VP9, but (thanks to the Stadia+ extension) I frequently see H264 used, and the problem with that is that it looks worse, sometimes really worse.
VP9 is the newer codec of the two that's better at compression. H.264 is the default as more devices can natively playback H.264 (Apple devices can't playback VP9 at all!). As you've noticed VP9 produces the better image but also requires GPU acceleration (Enable it in Chrome google!) or a powerful enough CPU to brute force it.

I'm not sure what's up with the new Stadia+ as it did take a few times to get the VP9/4K force to take hold.

Using the New version of Stadia+ took a few times to force 4K. I think it's safe to say I'm best-case scenario. ~10ms Latency

Quoting: EhvisThen I tried to run GRID to see if a different game would make a difference. I got 720p (with Stadia+ set to 4K). So that pretty much confirms that there is a capacity problem.
Stadia+ sometimes requires a game restart to take effect. Just last night I was playing Doom and Red Dead in 4K just fine. It's not a capacity issue. Google themselves lowered the default quality to 1080P, so be sure to increase that in the Stadia app if you're trying to play 4K.

I'll report my latency soon.

Quoting: pete910Yeah, because giga bit fibre so common where I am (UK) ..... :dizzy:

You're also comparing a MMO to a single player.

Internet speed will play a part obviously, I would except it been a speed issue if it was saturating my connection which it wasn't , not even half. Not tried doom eternal I will give that a go later being a single player game that may hold up better.

Please try D2 for a comparison with doom.

I have played Destiny 2 I just don't play the game as its not fun IMHO (How Bungie made this and Halo I'll never understand). It's completely playable. I will admit while playing with the Stadia controller Aim felt "floaty" but I adjusted to it and its more than playable. No such issue with KB/Mouse. I don't play FPS/Competitive games with a controller. My attempts at the crucible with the controller were laughable.

I also hopped into Serious Sam multiplayer and had no issues winning matches after adjusting to the controller.
