I hope King Arts will also release the Linux version of the first two "Book of Unwritten Tales" games on GOG in the future.

3D Sandbox Puzzler 'Infinifactory' Officially Released For Linux

Quoting: GuestSpacechem has a terrible tutorial, and of course TIS-100 has none, so I’m gonna avoid anything made by Zachtronics until further notice.
I can't speak for TIS-100 but I thought Spacechem eased you pretty well into the gameplay process.

I hope Infinfactory will also be available on GOG in the future.

Daedalic Entertainment's Puzzle Adventure 'Fire' Available On Steam For Linux

Another thing that tripped me up a bit was a musical puzzle, since I'm always terrible at those.
I like music puzzles as well as sliding puzzles. Not because I particularly love them but because I know they annoy a lot of people and I'm that kind of ass who finds that enjoyable (and I believe most adventure game designers are also.). :P

Lucasfilm Point-And-Click Classics Zak McKracken, LOOM and The Dig Now Available On GOG

Although I'm not the biggest fan of Loom, I've always loved it just for the beginnig where you click on the leaf on the tree you sit under and say "The last leaf of autumn", while it falls to the ground. :) Best beginnig of any game.

Reminded me of those Peanuts strips, where Snoopy watches the leaves fall in autumn:

Point-And-Click Adventure 'The Inner World' Makes Its Début On Linux In Humble PC & Android Bundle 12
17 Mar 2015 at 11:11 pm UTC

That's great. I bought it some time ago in the Humble Store and always wanted to play it. Seems I'm swamped with Linux Advenuters right now (Dreamfall, The Book of Unwritten Tales, Deponia games, ...).

EDIT: Tested The Inner World and it's buggy for me too unfortunately. I could only bring the inventory up with Tab and worse, I somehow suddenly jumped from the the beginnig of the game to some later part. Very puzzling.

Quoting: Segata SanshiroI wonder if for the Linux and OSX versions they just provide a Steam key though....
Yeah, I'm not sure either, it doesn't really say anything specific in the text.

I'm really looking forward to playing it, unfortunately GOG still hasn't got the Linux version up. :(

But check out the nice German retail version, which seems to include the Linux port right there on the Disc: http://www.amazon.de/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00LL43MXG/adventuretref-21 [External Link]

Grim Fandango Remastered - Let's Review What's New

Quoting: oldrocker99Nice to see a balanced review of GF Remastered. The Steam forums for the game, unsurprisingly, featured many pages of whinging from people who expected a whole new engine, 2015 graphics, redone voices, etc., etc., etc. Some few people pointed out that it would be wonderful to revisit a terrific game  , probably the best of its genre (notwithstanding the Monkey Island titles) that has been mostly unplayable on "modern" Windows systems for a mere $15 :woot: .

Some people are never, ever satisfied.

Especially on Steam forums :><:.
I think it is too easy too call everybody critizing the GF Remaster whinners. Many of them, including myself, are of the opinion that much more could have been done with the Remaster if DoubleFine invested a bit more time and money in it. However, it seems like Tim Schafer pushed it out prematurely and half-baked to get some quick cash for his company, which may be on a financial brink right now. However it may be, critzing doesn't alway equal being a cry-baby.
For being unplayable - it has for a long time been playable with ResidualVM.

GOL Survey Results: September

In the Steam hardware survey articles Liam also states that many Linux users shy away from DRM and that this reflects on the user numbers. So why not make this also part of the next survey: "Do you refuse to buy Linux games with DRM?" and maybe also the age-old question "Do you consider Steam itself (without Steamworks) DRM?".

Dreamfall Chapters Adventure Game Release Date Announced In New Video

Quoting: rick01457I seem to be the only person in the world who didn't like Dreamfall: The longest Journey so I'm dubious as to whether I'll like this one too. I'll probably get it though, because I'm a chump
Was it the story or the awkward controls you didn't care for (or both)?
For me it was neither the story, which I quite enjoyed, nor the controls, which didn't bother me that much, but the lack of classic adventure gameplay, i.e puzzles. There wasn't really much to do in Dreamfall and the things you could to very way to easy.
They promised more pure adventure gameplay for the new game but I somehow doubt the will deliver on that promise.
