Two Worlds II Is Not Coming To Linux, Well Maybe, We Aren't Sure Anymore
27 Jan 2015 at 10:07 pm UTC

Well, the graphics for Raven's Cry don't look cutting edge, not too keen on the animations in the trailer, but the ambiance seems to be there...Good gameplay can be the difference between a bad game and a great game. The soundtrack sounds great, I wonder if they managed to get the Dubliners for the score. Big premium price, I might wait till it goes down to a Pony, or even better Mussels a Plenty.

As for two worlds two, maybe we need to wait for two world three ;) Still hoping to see it come over. Now if Bethesda could also hear the voice of reason...

I think the lesson we need to learn, is that everygame will not get ported to Linux, but game are STILL being ported which is great.

Quoting: liamdaweExactly why I do not back anything any more, ever. I will never break that rule either, been stung too many times on waiting for developers who should just be open.
Well, Liam, I am like you for unproven developers, but for the ones who did follow through, if they go on kickstarter again, then I suppose that I may break that rule.

I have to say, apart from Minecraft, Dwarf Fortress, Kerbal, and Clockwork Empires (All non-story driven games), I don't appreciate early access, as I am unliekly to play a long RPG three times just to find the bugs. Kickstarter is just a means of giving money to help develop a game for me, but to each their own.

Hummm,

Games people would not expect but are universally loved:
Ages of Empire 2
Any Elder Scrolls
Fallout
Starcraft? Now that's a throwback into the past

Personally, I am confident that Aspyr will put out a great game.

Chivalry: Medieval Warfare To Begin Linux Port Testing
14 Jan 2015 at 10:46 pm UTC

OK, I get the banner bug, and some graphical glitches.

the main annoyance is that my ping is usually quite stable, at 30-50, yet sometimes I find myself being teleported. No-one else seems to notice me doing these mad teleports, or saying that I lag so am at loss to explain this phenomenon.

But I am aware this is an alpha, and that bugs will be found. there is no game breaking bug, which is good.

Genuinely happy about this, am clocking on nearly 300 hours on this game...

Have installed it overnight, will test tonight...

OpenMW Releases 0.34, 1.0 Looks Closer Every Day
25 Dec 2014 at 11:36 am UTC

More than 600 hours spent on that game. Much better in my honest opinion than the later ones, and more focused than daggerfall. I will play this again for sure.

And congrats on new website, really slick to use on mobiles, and great on the desktop.

Metro 2033 Redux & Metro Last Light Redux Launch On Linux, Sorta (UPDATED)
12 Dec 2014 at 12:03 pm UTC

Amazing game!

Amazing plotline!

It is a corridor/rail (sometimes literally) shooter, but the attention to the small details is amazing.

Sometimes, I just sit by the fire, and soak the atmosphere in.

I recommend the book these games are based on: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Metro-2033-Dmitry-Glukhovsky/dp/0575086254 [External Link]

I preordered the games for Linux. Will now install. I only played around 1/3rd of metro 2033, stopped when I learned the redux editions were coming out. Now I can really have fun.

How Steam Computes Linux Sales
10 Dec 2014 at 4:00 pm UTC Likes: 1

Quoting: oldrocker99I had, when dual-booting, purchased quite a few Windows games: Total Commander, Oblivion, Skyrim, X-COM, CIV V, Bioshock:Infinite, Borderlands 2, etc.

While it is very nice to see X-COM, Bioshock, and Borderlands 2 show up in my Steam library, I regret(1) that they all count as Windows sales, and (2)that mostly, I can't afford to buy a game twice. I will say that I'd bought CIV V with no DLC. The day it came out for Linux for $16.99 with all the DLC, I certainly bought that.:)

Needless to say, since I eschewed dual-booting (I was annoyed with Mint's little indiosyncracies, but for real frustration, use Windows 7 after five years of Linux:><:), I have bought Linux games from a Linux version of Steam. It's the least I can do to atone for my dual-boot days...:(
Yes, point 2 is particularly important. I can't afford to pay twice for games, especially as I want to support as many indies as possible. I have c.900 games on my steam account... Now of course I always buy on linux only, or wait until a particular game is available on Linux.
