Parkitect beta 3 released with a new ride, new props and bug fixes

Quoting: subWill it feature a single-player campaign?
Or is it a pure sandbox game?
The devs said that they plan on having a campaign mode on official release. Until then just sandbox mode.

However, you can download mods created by other players with scenarios; including many player mods duplicating some challenges from the old Roller Coaster Tycoon games.

Quoting: Asuyeah need more commercial MMO on linux. Albion online is alone.
There is always Shroud of the Avatar [External Link]. I've been tempted to try it. It is the spiritual successor to Ultima Online, but you do have to pay for it. (And I will not like being forced to pay for something if it is just as grindy as most MMOs.)

Not surprising that Gabe is a fellow greybeard. (assuming that is him in the uncredited photo.)

Voxel Tycoon, a new strategy game about transportation, building factories, and mining will come to Linux

Quoting: major_tomhi all,

how about cities in motion 1/2 in that order? i think it works like OTTD but only for public transport - but includes underground, tramway and round corner railways and a polished grafic (as prequel of cities skyline).

i also think it would be somehow possible to make more modern skins/buildings/vehicles/industires for OTTD or maybe they allready exist.

greets, tom
The first one is a decent builder, I've had quite a few hours enjoying it (not as many as OTTD, but enough.)

I bought both 1 & 2 at the same time with many DLCs on sale as part of a huge bundle... However, the 2nd is not as good as the first. While they tried to fix some of the problems of the first, they really added a bunch of tedium. Pick up the first one if you can, I would pass on the 2nd though.

Quoting: axredneck> the massive amount of Doom WADs
This. Isn't Doom 2 the game that has more good mods than any other game?
I still fondly remember the simpson mod/wad. Medical packs were beer and donuts. Barney would replace the main demon and constantly belch... also included chief Wiggum and Lenny. (Its been a long time... I dont remember everything.)

There was also a Barney (the dinosaur) mod... The Boss was replaced by him singing that infernal song... "I love you... you love me..."

That being said, I rarely use mods... with one exception... Rimworld... there I use QoL mods

I've tried a few factorio mods... but they constantly improve the game making the the need for QoL mods uneccessary. I'm happy with vanilla... Though I may consider one of the huge mods that extend the game.

I was able to get one of the beta keys, and I appreciate that.

However, I found the game lackluster at best. The game was ok, but it just seemed very slow going and bored me. YMMV.

Quoting: stretch611One of the first things that I noticed in the video is that they created a closed loop and added a train... But, the distance between signals on the curves was significantly smaller than the train they added.

While this is only a quick demo and it made no difference in this specific case, I fear that someone that fails to grasp the concept of having signals fit a train length inside them, is not going be creating any rail simulation that will have the kind of depth of mechanics that I crave.

I hope that they surprise me, but I doubt it will happen.

Microsoft is rumoured to be looking to buy Valve, EA and others

FIRST... These are rumours... and while Valve was mentioned even the rumours are suggesting EA. Please do not go all chicken little thinking that steam is already dead.

Even if MS buys Valve, which I highly doubt, that does not mean MS will immediately drop linux support. Minecraft still runs on linux, so does skype. Admittedly, linux is far on the back burner for updates, but they do work. Hell, SQL server was ported to linux, and I know they have considered porting Visual Studio.

Admittedly, advancing linux drivers would be stopped... but this is linux... it is quite amazing how one part of the community will take over an important project if another part stops support. Again... this is only on the rare chance Valve is bought... which I do not expect at all regardless of what these idiot analysts say.

Quoting: lucifertdarkFirst Microsoft started working with Canonical to get parts of Ubuntu running inside Windows, now they're looking to buy Valve?
*Facepalm*

It is a rumour, and one that many of us think holds very little truth... At the time of writing, Microsoft are NOT buying Valve Software.
Exactly, Not to mention that the most likely target that is rumored is EA. The rumor is also centered around the need for exclusive titles... Not something that Valve is likely to deliver on as Valve seems to develop steam now much more than actual games.

Quoting: ShmerlAnd regarding exclusive releases - this dumb and insulting approach should die out already. Normal game creators should strive to increase their reach, not to insult users by excluding them.
And not just that, but outside of the gaming industry the concept is completely preposterous. Just imagine: "Daewoo signs exclusive contract with Lionsgate Films for timed exclusive movie releases only to compatible™ Daewoo DVD players."
Actually this does happen outside of games... but not often.

Occasionally Best Buy will have an exclusive movie release. They will either get a title 2 or 3 weeks before anyone else, or be the only one with the "special directors cut" or some other bs.

It does not happen often, but it does happen.
