I have not done much with steamcharts... is there a way to show total number of linux users? Or does valve consider that proprietary?

I have it, its a good replacement for Roller Coaster Tycoon 2. If you played RCT2 and liked it, you will feel right at home. Worker management is a little different than RCT2, but still decent. (You also need to hire porters to carry supplies to the food stalls/shops.)
I have not tried the new beta yet, but the major thing it was lacking was a campaign mode with goal driven scenarios. Until that is remedied, you can only play in a sandbox mode, or with scenarios from the steam workshop. (or build your own scenarios.)

I think at least through Ultima 7, they are all DOS games... not sure about later titles. So they work through DOSbox. (I actually own 1-7 on Gog... in addition to buying the first 6 originally.) I think GOG discounts the series regularly so you may want to check every few days during the holiday season.
Storyline... I started with 3, 4, then 5, before getting 1 & 2. No real loss. The first 3 are pretty separate in the fact that the story really does not add much to sequels... Essentially you killed the evil wizard in the last one and now a new evil wizard is back.
Ultima IV was the quest of the avatar... V and VI follow up on that. I think VII does as well. IV,V,VI all have the same map too... though admittedly, there are a few changes due to storyline. (at least the overland map is the same... even though things like old dungeons are blocked, cities are in the same location.) Ultima I II and III all had unique maps... even if the city names were reused.
As for the graphics... they're rocking... At least they were 20+ years ago when I first play them ;)
In all seriousness, they are all a bit dated now... Remember that that the first 5 were all 8bit titles. I first saw ultima 1-3 on an Apple II computer back in the 80s. The first one I played was Ultima III on a Commodore 64 followed by V and VI on a Commodore as well. They actually were decent graphics at the time. I and II were a bit dated when I first played them and I remember the stick figure I would control in the town.
If you can get past the graphics... they did have some good stories.

Quoting: razing32I want to give a few Ultima games a go , just not sure which to try.I have played the first 6 ultimas... I don't think that I ever finished the 6th one, but I did finish the others.
The first few ones look a bit bland.
I normally don;t care for graphics much , but even I have my limits ...

I was ready to cancel the Humble Monthly. I had bought a 6 month subscription and lets just say that it has been less than appealing for linux gamers. I was drawn in by Stellaris, I got a few good ones, but some months are horrible.
Just today I unlocked these games...
H1Z1
Rivals of Aether
BlazBlue: Chronophantasma Extend
Nex Machina
The Sexy Brutale
STRAFE: Millennium Edition
Passpartout: The Starving Artist
I looked up every title on steam... Only the last one, Passpartout, supports linux.
About Passaport
While I was a fan of humble monthly, I think I got lucky the first month or two... Most months are horrible for Linux gamers. That being said... Buying it a month at a time when there is a good headliner may work out.

"Gesundheit" is not used very often in the US, but, it is used often enough that people understand it when it is used.

Quoting: EikeHere in the US, I think that "God Bless you" does seem to be the most common, followed by the shorter, slightly less religious, "Bless you." At least from what I have seen.Quoting: scaine*lol* You're right. In an old habbit I'm saying "Gesundheit!" (translates to "(I wish you) health!" ) to people who are ill, forgetting that it's usually only used (here in Germany as well) when someone's sneezing. :)Quoting: EikeGesundheit! (*)Yep, US-only as far as I know. In Britain, it's more common to say 'bless you' after someone sneezes. But not as a note of sympathy for someone who has a cold! If you did that, you would just sound very old fashioned and religious! :D
(*) My dictionary says this would be used at least in the US - is it?
One more question: I guess saying "Bless you!" when someone's sneezing is not strongly connected to religion nowadays?

Just started playing...
One thing I noticed was in the config... they have an option to send Metrics data... I would make an assumption that this is more likely to tell them the OS distribution that they have instead of Steam's data. After all, Klei will get the information that they specifically want instead of trying to take Steam's numbers and fit it into their buckets.
Of course, it does require that you let them get the information and not turn it off.

As for pricing, I forgot where, but I read that Klei gives 20% off their products when you already own a title. It did appear as if I got the bonus from Darkest Dungeon and/or Shank 1/2. (Despite the number of people that swear by it, I do not have Don't Starve.)

Quoting: scaineI'm not exactly sure how my purchase registers... I did buy it while on Linux. I knew it was coming and their sale seem right... After buying, I installed WINE and tried it but never got it working just right... (The first time I used WINE in almost 2 years.) I have a whole 8 minutes listed as playtime in ONI... and part of that was crash reporting. I know the rest of my time logged will be linux exclusively.Quoting: stretch611Installing now... Bought it during the Klei sale 2 weeks ago...I think that would count as a Windows sale, which is a shame. I can't remember exactly how it works - most played platform in two weeks? What if you've never played it?
Ah, well. I got the sale price too, which is a bonus, but I'd have paid full price for this, despite it being Early Access. Klei games tend to be worth every penny.

Many people I know involved with linux and open source are privacy minded. Many also don't care for any form of DRM. But, while the two topics are loosely related, everyone has their differences. Think of all the people on this site that only are interested in gaming through GOG because of DRM. All I am saying is that there are so many differences that I am sure those numbers are not correlated in the least.
That being said, with 17m online at once, I wonder just how many users they have total.

Quoting: bradgyI doubt the two are related at all. I rarely turn off my machine and leave steam on in the background. I don't even have a reddit account let alone subscribe to one of their subs.Quoting: Xpander56588 Linux users Online in steamInteresting that that number is about the same as the number of members of the r/linux_gaming subreddit.

Seeing how there is a huge sale at every store right now, I figured I would give a quick update on my previous post...
Defender's Quest... I didn't realize, I actually had this in my library already. I assume it is from an old Humble Bundle, I will have to try it, but you may want to double check your library before you buy if you have a bunch of HIB from the past. (or maybe the Humble Monthly.)
Winged Sakura: Mindy's Arc... I bought it on sale... Installed it and it failed to run. It is a 32-bit Unity title and it was having a problem not finding the proper SteamLib module. After multiple google searches and forum searches (and a few years since the dev was on the steam forum), I took the easy way out and got a refund.
Defense Zone 3 HD... Recently got an update... Now there are 4 more maps added with the update in the last week. I have to try them, the steam forums say they are quite difficult... and that is part of the appeal of this TD game.
Tumbleweed... Bought it. Tried the first intro scene. The controls seemed a little off and the game slow, but I will give it a try. This was only a first impression and I need to spend more time in to get a better feeling of the controls.
Sanctum 2: Was free for 48 hours on Humble... but too late if you are reading this now.
OTTTD: I know now what put me off on the game. There are premium coins for sale in the game. One review on steam mentioned that you need to buy those coins in order to instantly revive your character when they die. I don't care for microtransactions in my game. I may pick it up anyway, its on sale for about $2.50 on Humble.
Dungeon Warfare... On sale right now for $2.50... If you don't have it get it... I'll say it again, its one of the best TD games I have played.
