Quoting: razing32May also be trying some wine in myself :P
No! Try not. Do, or do not. There is no try. -- Wise words from Yoda.

I may "try" WINE myself... It is on my last machine from when I used to play Neverwinter MMO. I may install it on my current laptop and grab Oxygen Not Included [External Link]. Its part of the Klei sale [External Link] this weekend. Also I appear to be getting an extra 20%. I think they have a 20% discount for anyone who owns their other games and I have Shank 1/2 from old Humble Bundles as well as Darkest Dungeon [External Link].

40% off a recent title on my wishlist is hard to avoid. And while I need to install WINE to play it, Klei has said they will support Linux [External Link] on this title.

Intel announce a new CPU with AMD graphics and HBM2 memory

Quoting: stretch611By helping AMD, Intel keeps regulators off its back by avoiding being labeled a monopoly. (While the current US administration is unlikely to care about monopolies, the EU does tend to take a stronger stance against them, and of course there is a lot of CPUs sold in the EU.)
I don't think so. It's not forbidden not to have competitors - it's forbidden to abuse the powers that come with it.
I'm not saying that monopolies are illegal... I said they avoid more regulation and scrutiny by having a healthy competitor. While they look for abuse, it is better to find it before all the competition is gone so that remedies can be applied.

Look at what Google is going through right now... Especially in Europe the EU is fining them for search results and how they are displayed with ads... Google has roughly 80% [External Link] of the search engine market... similar to Intel's CPU share of computers. Google has roughly 85% [External Link] of the Smartphone market... the last fine is pennies compared to what the EU will fine them if they think that requiring other base apps with the android market is abuse. And from my perspective, Apple sure looks a lot healthier than AMD.

This actually helps Intel 2 ways... The obvious is chipping away at nVidia.

Not so obvious is that helping AMD also helps Intel. AMD has not done that well with CPUs for quite some time. While there new architecture seems interesting they have lost a lot of ground (aka market share) to Intel over the past decade. ( Historical Market Share [External Link] )

Parkitect alpha 19 is out with new rides, new scenario options and plenty more
31 Oct 2017 at 1:56 pm UTC

I bought Parkitect earlier this month. It basically is a (very) much improved Roller Coaster Tycoon 2. (I use RCT2, because RCT3 was horrible.)

The devs have been coming out with a update every month which adds new things and has bug fixes. There are still some rides from RCT2 that they have not added yet (like a suspended chair lift) but they have added quite a few that were never seen in RCT1/2/3. It is in early access so this is good as they are progressing.

Their recent build competition, which appears that it will become a regular thing, is a great idea. They pick a ride (one that has a track layout), let players design the ride/layout and include the top 5 in game. Last month they did the competition with a flying coaster, this month will be the Ghost Mansion Ride. Great way to add content to the game as well as increasing player participation.

One thing to note... Right now there are no scenarios. The devs say that when released it will have a campaign mode, but it hasn't been done yet. (Again, it is Early Access, so this is not an issue at this point.) However, it does mean that until it leaves EA, you are limited to sandbox mode only and any scenarios on the steam workshop.

Overall, it is a good replacement for RCT2, the graphics are much improved. I find that worker management leaves a little to be desired, but there is plenty of time to work on it.

I also have played OpenRCT2. This works quite well as well. It allows RCT2 to run on linux with high resolution screens as well. OpenRCT2 is great for getting your RCT2 fix... but it is the base game, nothing changed. Parkitect is under development, it is having some things that need improvement, but it is on its way and I expect it to be great replacement in the future.

Low on cash? Here's a look at some Linux games currently on sale

Quoting: g000hOne thing that I'm pretty happy about and didn't know before.... When Steam has bundle promotions - Buy all these games and get an extra 20% off (for example) - If you already own most of those games, and want to finish off the missing items - You buy the bundle and you just get the missing items (that you don't already own) and you gain the full benefit of the bundle discount.
I have seen this recently on Steam... However I think it is new, IIRC they rarely did this in the past you used to need to decide to re-purchase some content or forgo the bundle.

It hasn't been mentioned in a while, so I might as well say that the Steam Halloween sale has started. =)

Also, Guns of Icarus online is FREE in the Humble Store [External Link]. (Which is also having a Halloween Sale)

GOG is also having a Halloween sale. They also have a few more titles that you can add to gog through GOG Connect [External Link]. (mostly horror type games, not all linux, but it did grab 2 more into my account.)

Quoting: ZlopezI want to buy a Dawn of War III, but I don't know if Feral get anything from the sold copy if I buy it on Steam.
Does anyone know if they are getting they share? If not I will rather wait till the sale will be in the Feral store.
Back after Civ V was ported to linux, Aspyr was asked about how they get money for the port. Essentially, it was if you were using linux on steam when you bought the game it counted as a linux sale and Aspyr would get credit. While I don't know how much of the sale they actually received, this was how they were compensated. If you were on a windows machine when you bought it, Aspyr did not get anything.

My guess/assumption is that is likely how Feral gets paid as well.

In any case, that appears to be how steam credits a linux sale as opposed to windows, so if you want devs to notice linux gamers, when buying from steam, always use the native linux client; not WINE, nor windows (if you dual boot.)
