Quoting: Gran PCIt's the former -- just like the public Source SDK 2013 :)
Good to know. :)

Relatedly, if you can give out that information, I'd be curious about whether the ports are properly integrated back into the main codebase, or if you've now got three separate forks, one for each platform.

Because I fear too many people will do take the easy way out and do the latter. Which would of course be a hell to maintain for future bug fixes and potential sequels. And, from a "professional" standpoint, it justs irks me. :P

Quoting: Gran PC"+1 for linux" (just legitimately didn't understand what the point was -- having announced that the port was coming)
I can of course only speak for myself, but for me it's kinda of an enthusiastic "me too". To show that there are people who care, who look forward to it.

Like I said on the Steam forums, I bought the game solely because of the announced Linux port. I haven't even downloaded it yet in Steam, since I'm Linux-exclusive for over 10 years now.

For what it's worth, if you need help debugging a Linux build, I can offer my help and gdb-/valgrind-experience. My OpenGL knowledge is limited and I don't know anything about Valve's Source engine (which is what you're using, no?), but I do know C and C++ and I think I know a bit about best practices on GNU/Linux.

So are YouTube comments. And 4chan. And reddit. And Twitter. And...

No, it's deeper than that. The sad reality is this: people are dicks. Everywhere.

I got that in a bundle. Played for a few minutes and found it to be quite shit, to be honest.

Quoting: GNUzelWait, DrMc Coy is the founder of the Xoreos project?
Yes.

Quoting: GNUzelI've been meaning to ask them where I can donate
I rather still need someone with OpenGL knowledge to donate their time and experience to the project, not money.

EDIT: Thanks for the offer, though.

Old?!? KotOR isn't old! It uses 3D graphics!

Now get off my lawn, you young whippersnapper!

I'd be quite interested if it's possible to get a Linux KotOR port. They did do the Mac port back in the days. But now that BioWare belongs to EA and LucasArts to Disney, that might get weird.

Well, there are a few resources with basic information on how to start:

The ScummVM wiki has this HOWTO page [External Link].

There's also REWiki [External Link] for a collection of game reverse-engineering knowledge. They have a hints page [External Link] as well.

Then there's XentaxWiki [External Link] which focuses on file formats; they also have a guide pages [External Link].

For audio and video formats, there's MultimediaWiki [External Link], which is associated with the ffmpeg and libav projects.

Keep in mind though, that REing a game is of course a lot of work and can take quite some time and perseverance.
