If there is a darker theme made, I may consider using it. This one does feel a tad too bright for my personal taste.

The Cheapskate's Corner 4 (Jun 5th-11th) (UPDATED)
6 Jun 2013 at 2:35 pm UTC

Quoting: s_dThe porting crew at Humble have done so much publicly, with open-source engines, tools, and other goodies, that they have made it easier for all Linux devs to port and distribute games.  Heck, for the indies I'm working with, I'll be packaging up their Linux games using MojoSetup, by icculus himself!
You do not want to oversell your case there s_d; icculus was awesome long, long before Humble Bundle came along, and so was MojoSetup by the way. Much of what you pointed to there is still the result of Loki and their free tools from well over a decade ago. Even Edward Rudd was there cranking out Penumbra and Amnesia for us back in the day, a good time before he became Humble Bundles porting go-to guy. I am not disputing that HIB has done a lot for us in the past, but we do not need to change history to justify it.

Steam's May Hardware Survey is out!
3 Jun 2013 at 12:52 am UTC

Quoting: berarmaFor me, this statistics could be seen as Valve's success/failure to sell his services to a certain kind of user that may prefer using DRM-free services like Desura or HIB.
Both of which often cater to Steam, but anyway...

Steam's May Hardware Survey is out!
2 Jun 2013 at 4:40 am UTC

If such a thing did exist I would not be surprised if Linux had a far greater share, not necessarily because Desura has more Linux users, but most likely a greater proportion in comparison to Windows ones. If you truly would like to see one, feel free to suggest it on their forums - they have a place for suggestions just like these.

Steam's May Hardware Survey is out!
2 Jun 2013 at 2:48 am UTC

Quoting: psychoticmeowOf course it may not work, as Linux users are probably out to prove a point.
Which is why there is always a stream of arguments whenever one of these surveys comes out. Personally, as someone outside of this particular spectacle, I am finding all this fidgeting about a smidgen of a percent to be kind of annoying. I know some developers take this survey very seriously, but still, arguing with the numbers every month is not going to change the results.

End of May Linux gaming roundup! And other bits and bobs!
31 May 2013 at 11:33 pm UTC

I would have included Salvation Prophecy on that list myself, as it was only released for Linux on May 6. I have not been able to buy it yet, but I am already convinced it is awesome. :)

Expeditions: Conquistador turn based strategy RPG released for Linux!

Could be interesting, wonderful to see it coming to Desura. :)

Desura to more clearly label third-party DRM
30 May 2013 at 12:57 am UTC

A few more details emerge:
You will know when v2 is out. The site layout will be changed dramatically ... Desura was our first attempt at a store, we want to get v2 right when we launch it. The store front is already a million times better.

Mojang's Scrolls will not be on Linux just yet
29 May 2013 at 3:45 pm UTC

Yeah, well, we should keep in mind that Mojang picked Unity back before it had any pretensions of actually supporting Linux, so we should not be surprised that to them Linux is something which is still only nice to do. That being said, not being part of the beta is not something we can really hold against them that much.

Humble Indie Bundle 8 has been unleashed to everyone!
28 May 2013 at 9:41 pm UTC

Am I the only one not terribly enthused by any of these titles?

I don't have anything against them, but none of them seem to justify to me the enthusiasm I am seeing here. Maybe I am missing something, I don't know.

Plus I am rather tapped out at the moment, so I think this is going to be a pass for me.
