Steam's May Hardware Survey is out!
2 Jun 2013 at 4:40 am UTC

If such a thing did exist I would not be surprised if Linux had a far greater share, not necessarily because Desura has more Linux users, but most likely a greater proportion in comparison to Windows ones. If you truly would like to see one, feel free to suggest it on their forums - they have a place for suggestions just like these.

Steam's May Hardware Survey is out!
2 Jun 2013 at 2:48 am UTC

Quoting: psychoticmeowOf course it may not work, as Linux users are probably out to prove a point.
Which is why there is always a stream of arguments whenever one of these surveys comes out. Personally, as someone outside of this particular spectacle, I am finding all this fidgeting about a smidgen of a percent to be kind of annoying. I know some developers take this survey very seriously, but still, arguing with the numbers every month is not going to change the results.

End of May Linux gaming roundup! And other bits and bobs!

I would have included Salvation Prophecy on that list myself, as it was only released for Linux on May 6. I have not been able to buy it yet, but I am already convinced it is awesome. :)

Expeditions: Conquistador turn based strategy RPG released for Linux!

Could be interesting, wonderful to see it coming to Desura. :)

Desura to more clearly label third-party DRM
30 May 2013 at 12:57 am UTC

A few more details emerge:
You will know when v2 is out. The site layout will be changed dramatically ... Desura was our first attempt at a store, we want to get v2 right when we launch it. The store front is already a million times better.

Mojang's Scrolls will not be on Linux just yet
29 May 2013 at 3:45 pm UTC

Yeah, well, we should keep in mind that Mojang picked Unity back before it had any pretensions of actually supporting Linux, so we should not be surprised that to them Linux is something which is still only nice to do. That being said, not being part of the beta is not something we can really hold against them that much.

Humble Indie Bundle 8 has been unleashed to everyone!

Am I the only one not terribly enthused by any of these titles?

I don't have anything against them, but none of them seem to justify to me the enthusiasm I am seeing here. Maybe I am missing something, I don't know.

Plus I am rather tapped out at the moment, so I think this is going to be a pass for me.

Ankh 3 adventure game officially coming to Linux !

Does this mean that they view their Desura releases to have been successes?

Desura to more clearly label third-party DRM
26 May 2013 at 6:06 pm UTC

Quoting: liamdaweWhile we are at it, I hate their comment system with the weird tree view with comments all out of place, I much prefer the standard one after the other.
What I would find to be better is if they adopted the model YouTube uses of having tree-view comments with specific places for uploader responses (very useful), top comments (less useful on Desura, but why not), and the like as it would at the very least makes things more organized. As it stands they can get a bit messy, I grant you.

Desura to more clearly label third-party DRM
26 May 2013 at 4:22 pm UTC

As far as I know the only games on Desura for Linux that have DRM are some of the LGP titles (Cold War does not) and the games that are merely store-fronts for Steam keys, such as the ones I have listed in the article. The great majority are DRM free, but that is why it is so important for these corner-cases to be better labelled.
