Doom 3/ID Tech 4 source code release this year!
4 Aug 2011 at 11:40 pm UTC

Keep in mind through that much of id Tech 4's features have already been implemented in DarkPlaces or XReal. When it comes to source ports it is quite interesting, even if most of the games on the engine are native already. :D

Interview with a 0 A.D. Developer

I am still playing Age of Empires through WINE at the moment, but a nice native distraction would be quite nice. Still, I am still suspicious of any 3D strategy games, though 0 A.D. gives me enough motivation to try and look past my previous experiences with them.

Yeah, you can blame the hangover, I can blame the remnants of general anaesthesia and the novocaine.

So we are going to get Desura, Gameolith, and IndieCity all within a space of a year? It will be interesting to see how this turns out.

The Humble Indie Bundle #3
26 Jul 2011 at 11:23 pm UTC

Does that mean that all the titles that were a part of the Humble Indie Bundle will be available for Linux through Desura? So Trine and the other Bundle titles not currently available will be available through there, and it will mean you can get Braid somewhere other than the Ubuntu Software Centre?

Achron updates

Indeed it was. It was also the one that showed that the Doom engine could actually have had fully implemented jumping, but id simply did not think of it at the time.

Quoting: "Brandon Smith, post: 1972"Man good music! When I see the name Achron I think of those demons from DOOM, I guess those were archons though, heh.
Which beastie were you specifically thinking off, the Arachnotron or the Arch-Vile? :D

Quoting: "Eddward, post: 1962"There are several games that were Wolfenstien/Doom clones, but Duke Nuke'em and Redneck Rampage (to name two) were more than clones because they each had a unique personality.
Well, Redneck Rampage did have personality, I will give it that. Blood will always be my favourite Build game though. :D

Hey, if you are on Linux, you should never get sick of hearing about a native game. ;)

Puzzle Moppet now on Gameolith!
19 Jul 2011 at 8:31 pm UTC

Desura has the advantage of already having considerable contact with the Indie community, but thanks to excellent level of service that Gameolith offers, including custom packaging, sales tracking and the like means it might just be able to corner the market on smaller Indie titles. I doubt we will see the likes of Penumbra, Amnesia, Shadowgrounds, or Trine on their service anytime soon, but games like Puzzle Moppet and the like do seem a good fit.
