Quoting: vlademir1I see you missed the sarcasm. :whistle:Quoting: HamishSo am I letting the side down then by having a more than five year old rig that uses a ton of second hand parts?First, I want to second Liam, this is not a pissing contest by any stretch. Second, years old tech is hardly outdated let alone something to think of as "letting down" the Linux community.

Isn't one of the strengths of Linux that we can make it work on all kinds of hardware?

Quoting: AnxiousInfusionParticipating in this survey has a ratcheting effect on my choice in hardware. I feel as though I can never migrate to anything less powerful than what I have because it would harm the overall "score" of Linux gamer computer strength. So am I letting the side down then by having a more than five year old rig that uses a ton of second hand parts?

What bothers me is that last year I had five broken kernel updates on my CentOS partition and not a single issue on my main Arch partition. There are no guarantees folks.

Last Humble Bundle I bought was Humble Indie Bundle 14 back in 2015, with my interest in them having already dwindled well before then. For me they stopped being a large part of my gaming life a long time ago. And I used to buy every Humble Indie Bundle they produced.
What have you been playing and what do you think?

After playing The Lost Mission from Doom 3: BFG Edition I found myself playing Doom 3 proper again through dhewm3 to compare the two versions.
Might be an article in that. Maybe.

I get why the Wine question is relevant, but it does look a bit odd next to what is mostly just system and software specifications. It really is more to do with gauging the Linux gaming culture on here, which is a valid thing to want to measure, but kind of opens the survey up to a whole new world of questions. For instance, you might now want to ask what online game stores people have used, or whether they are okay playing games that employ DRM, or even just adding a manual field where people can list what games they have recently played.
If you ever do decide to go down this road though what I would suggest is having these questions listed as a separate "Player info" or similar section on people's profiles rather than just having them bunched in with the rest of the Computer info which is mostly just dry hardware information.

This is why I still love and use Zaphod Mode, as it makes each screen live in a world of its own. True, you can not move windows between screens, but once you adjust your workflow to accommodate for this it just becomes second nature that you need to launch a separate instance of an application on each screen. It is also why I am on Xfce now instead of GNOME, as for whatever reason GNOME refuses to play well with Zaphod Mode. Still, it allows me all of the benefits of having a single screen while still giving me a second head to play with. And I never have to deal with a game launching on the wrong screen.
EDIT: Just in case anyone is interested, I have done a little housekeeping and uploaded my xorg.conf:

Every time I even look at Humble Store I get discouraged by how awful their tagging system is. The way it often forgets selections or does nonsense such as showing games which have DRM Free Windows builds only even though I have Linux selected as a platform as well. Browsing for anything on there is a pain.
There's a brand new Humble Bundle with almost all the games on Linux, oh my
