The proposal was withdrawn:

Curious to see what follows, and when. I doubt there will be many complaints about winding down 32-bit stuff that isn't used much (particularly if upstream has canned it already - the mentioned use case of most concern), but accurately identifying those things may be a big part of the job.

With the "redhat-lsb" package installed:
Operating System Version:
"Fedora release 42 (Adams)" (64 bit)
With the "lsb_release" package installed instead:
Operating System Version:
"Fedora Linux 42 (Workstation Edition)" (64 bit)
With neither of those installed (note the lack of quotes):
Operating System Version:
Fedora Linux 42 (Workstation Edition) (64 bit)
So it looks like they have some kind of fallback mechanism in place these days (reading /etc/os-release directly, perhaps).
Side note: I haven't seen it mentioned before that they honored Douglas Adams, author of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, for release 42 (the answer to life, the universe, and everything). As a fan, I must heartily approve.

on Fedora the detected OS when you run the system info tool in Steam shows “Linux 6.3” or something generic like that.I was curious about this, years ago, when Steam was still new to Linux. From my investigation back then, I determined it was related to the "lsb_release" tool, which is/was not installed by default. Here is what I see with the current Steam beta client, and Fedora 42:
With the "redhat-lsb" package installed:
Operating System Version:
"Fedora release 42 (Adams)" (64 bit)
With the "lsb_release" package installed instead:
Operating System Version:
"Fedora Linux 42 (Workstation Edition)" (64 bit)

As for the Humble Choice subscription - I end up pausing a lot of months, so my annual subscriptions end up lasting a while. Even with the price increase, it's still worth it to me, as long as they don't mess with the pausing option. If the selection sucks, my subscription just lasts longer. If it gets to the point where it sucks every month, it will tank completely, and I doubt they want that (unless they are trying to shut it down).

That's non-recurrent.Maybe there are other options, but the app itself pushes supporter subscriptions, in monthly and annual flavors. I just took a quick look, and thought it seemed rather sparsely featured for wanting a subscription.

Mayhaps, Fedora shouldn't rely volunteers on maintaining core elements of the OS.Who should they rely on instead? Paid Red Hat developers? RHEL already dropped 32-bit support.

If developers set Steam Deck on a content depot package on Steam (even if Linux is ticked too) it results in it being only available for Steam Deck. I've let the developer know.Good to pester Valve about it too?

That *is* some lovely pixel art, and I appreciated the large variety of pups in the trailer. Like "RD", I'm not really into "boaty" things either, but I've wish listed this one.
