GOG formally announce their GOG Patrons subscription donation system

Might have considered it in the beginning but nowadays so many of their games have DRM preventing offline LAN gaming, so its really only the better option for single player games. For any LAN games, they have basically as much DRM as steam.

@Tuxee
It's hard to justify donating extra to GOG when they are almost as bad as Steam.
What am I missing? In what way has GoG (or CD Project) contributed anything to the Linux world? How does this stack up against the contributions of Valve (which suppose you mean by "Steam")?
To clarify my comment, I'm not talking about code contributions, just about their DRM stance. I care about avoiding DRM and like Free Software and that's the main reason why I use Linux, it's not just about the better software. In this respect Steam is worse than GOG, though not by a long shot.

It is wrong to say "Steam is DRM". Steam offers a DRM system, and it offers DRM'd games as well as games without DRM. You can copy the latter games freely and use them wherever you want. (You might not be allowed to, but that's not what DRM is about.)
This may be technically true, but in reality nearly every game you buy there will require Steam to be running in order to play the game, it's very rarely only a check at install time. The list of actually DRM free games is extremely short and mostly very old games, and good luck trying to play anything multiplayer.

Sadly, basically every GOG game is unplayable in multiplayer due to their Galaxy DRM. It's hard to justify donating extra to GOG when they are almost as bad as Steam.

Ubuntu 25.10 goes all-in with Wayland, dropping support for GNOME on Xorg

> And the fact is, Wayland is the future and the more distributions that force it by default, the quicker the Linux world can move on and continue improving.

This may be true, but it's on the backs of the users. I can't convince anyone to use Linux if the experience isn't 100% seamless. Not everybody wants to be the beta test stuff for the good of the Wayland developers. So I hope this it is working perfectly for everyone, otherwise we just bleed more potential users.

I love this style of game but man this looks so ugly. Will probably try it anyway.

Paradox Interactive acquires Haemimont Games

Why all the negativity?
Paradox interactive is a great studio.
Once upon a time they were good, but that was long ago. 10+ DLC per game is nuts, and virtually every Paradox game goes down this path. It's obnoxious, but my bigger complaint is that the multiplayer is always locked behind a pointless Paradox account that they use to data mine your info and add DRM to their supposedly DRM-Free GOG releases. Anyway these two companies were already working tightly together, so nothing of value lost.

Wish they would implement the matchmatching too, this is the only part I care about. Something like Goldberg's emulator but for GOG.

TUXEDO recently revealed two more AMD Ryzen laptops

Are there any laptops targeted at Linux users that actually have a good keyboard? This one looks terrbile to me: a lowered key plate, no trackpoint, 10-key pad, iso layout, yuck. I'll keep buying Lenovo until something comes along with a nicer keyboard. While their keyboards have gotten worse over the years they still seem to be the best to me.
