Quoting: DungeonmasterA great game which has been spoiled which way to much DRM.
Spoiled with DRM? What the hell are you on? I noted in the article it can be ran outside of Steam by just opening the launcher, how is it spoiled with DRM exactly?
Unlike a standalone package, this can't be installed without the authorization of a 3rd party.

A lot of games are Steam-only for prerelease (alphas, "early access" betas...) because it's so much simpler for a developer to handle them that way (automatic updates and such).
Is it actually easier to do this on Steam over Desura?  It seems like Desura would handle automatic updates.  Perhaps it has more to do with more people being on Steam and only wanting to prepare a single release.

I agree with Shmeri, the ability to install in addition to play without asking permission from a 3rd party is a requirement for me.  Also, Steam DRM does hinder legitimate customers, consider what happens if your account gets banned or you just want to install on multiple devices without downloading the game again.

SteamWorld Dig A Hybrid Of Super Metroid & Terraria Released On Steam For Linux

This looks fun, but if it isn't available in a non-drm form, I'll have to pass as well.  Software like Steam is one of the reasons I left the Windows platform years ago for Linux.

Steam DRM + micro-transactions.  That does sound like a no brainer.
