Quoting: Craggles086Anyone else find headphone jack on the PlayStation controller annoying. My sound is always connected to external speakers on my computer. As soon as the PlayStation controller is connected I loose all sound.

On Windows it is a pain finding the setting to disable controller audio every time. Hope Steam gives us a setting that stays on if their controller gets audio out
Your desktop environment and/or sound system should have an option to disable any sound sink, no?
Probably easier to setup on Linux, on Windows I have to disable it every time in settings. Buried three or four deep. Will look for disabling sound sink options..

Wonder how long till second round of Steam Controller sales. Did they underestimate demand do you think? Or did they do a small release to test the waters?

We covered that news on the stock directly...
Sorry, think I missed that.

Steam Controller more popular than Valve expected - they're working on stock issues

The cynic in me still thinks it was a small release on purpose, despite all the polite speak about underestimating demand.

Would be happy to be proved wrong.

But now resigned to hopefully pick one up on a later release.

Steam Controller goes out of stock as Valve get a ton of "Game Console" shipments

Yep, Steam Controller all sold out in Australia at $149 (australian).

No idea how many they were shipping to Australia as opposed to the US, but might have a try next round.

Quoting: MalCool. I also had 2 steam controllers. Must admit the second one was useless. The first I used to play PC games, mostly strategy, on my TV, single player. All multiplayer stuff however, was meant to be played with a standard controller, and indeed I always went better with multiple xbox one controllers.

The thing is no game was ever developed to take advantage of the full featureset of the steam controller, not even Valve ones. Ok, portal 2 was definitely better with steam controller, but not a must. And I expect the same to be true for this new version too. Thus, in my modest opinion, 1 controller is enough a gamer arsenal to enable you to play PC games on your TV (without K&M ofc). If game developers decide to push their game designs further, and take advantage of valve controllers also for coop games, I'm always in time to get a second one.

I think I will get mine when I buy the steam box.
Think Borderlands 2 had native Steam Controller support. Had to do some work for Borderlands 3 to get Steam Input configs to work well with the first Steam Controller, but since Steam Controller 1 was basically unsupported by this time hardly surprising.

Will agree that hardly any game targeted what the first Steam Controller was capable of.

Still dreaming of getting native support on the trackpad for steering in a racing game.

I was getting a bit tired of having to go into Steam Input to get any game to work, but if the new one automatically inherits Steam Controller configs then this should be less of an issue.

Rocket League adds Easy Anti-Cheat with Steam Deck / Linux still supported

Look at the screenshots in the article. That right one is highly suspicious! 😄

Honestly, for a studio now owned by Epic, it still has a pretty decent implementation. Still able to turn it off and do your own thing outside of the official servers is something that most devs would never do. Especially if they rely on skins for monetization.
So not all the Studios that got bought up by Epic had half their workers sacked.

Nice to know.

Sorry, still feeling a bit bitter about some of the Epic purchases.

Would be cool if Heroic allowed access to steam input configs for steam controller so it can live up to its potential outside Steam.

Not expecting this. But hopeful.

Steam Beta gets battery indicator for wireless gamepads as the new Steam Controller nears
26 Apr 2026 at 7:42 am UTC

“ macOS

Fixed soundtrack playback not working on Apple Silicon machines. “

Sounds promising for Apple that Steam might be supporting Apple. They might even get Proton working on their OS the same way it does on Linux.

Steam Controller 1 used AA batteries, hence the lack of a battery monitor. If Steam Controller is being upgraded to rechargeable then that explains battery indicator, plus Bluetooth connectivity and you have a worthy upgrade.

Horizon Chase Turbo is getting delisted after the Epic Games layoffs

Yep, Aquirus really went downhill after being bought by Epic,
and that is after Horizon Chase 2 was locked to Apple Store for a year.

Major disappointment..

Guess exclusives don’t work outside the console space.
