The current humble monthly isn't very tempting to be honest, but it I managed to change my subscription from nothing to month-to-month without buying the current bundle. I just hope I manage to remember pause-a-month every time I'm not interested.

The perfect time for cloud gaming is when you are not home where your gaming rig is, but is visiting someone with a lot of bandwidth and only brought your laptop. I don't think stadia will be perfect at launch, but I hope it will help improve the cloud gaming experience. I also think LAN-parties would be a lot more convenient if they provided the bandwidth required for streaming and you only needed to bring a laptop, rather than a good gaming PC.
For me the ideal cloud gaming service would integrate with the steam cloud so I could continue where I left off at home.

As their third game, this seems to be the best one yet. It seems like it will appeal to the same people for mostly the same reasons, and it seems like they finally have implemented some of the things I wished for since train fever. It is a lot prettier than the earlier games so I wonder how demanding it will be.

I wonder if it will share the same quirks/features as the classics. From the video it seems like there is something like the market lady in caesar 3 at least. I have seen quite a few videos exploiting tricks like destination walkers, perfecting residential blocks so the workers can walk a full circuit and so on.

The funding campaign to help GNOME fight off a patent troll has now officially passed the $125k they requested! Since they're planning to fight, hopefully it will help deter future patent trolls attacking FOSS.I had to re-read this a few times before I realized that I was reading it wrong. I thought it was a game about defending gnome from a patent troll. The brain twist words to fit the context some times.

Cloud games has a lot of potentials that local games doesn't. A game with a traditional client/server model has to deal with a huge latency in the communication between the server and the client. For a game developed specifically to be run in the cloud, this is slightly different. We can call it server/client/viewer or something. You have one server park, and one client/viewer pair per user. The main latency is between the client and the viewer, not between the server and the client. This means that more calculations can be moved from the client to the server, and you can get away with fewer duplicate calculations.

I wish lutris didn't automatically delete the wine prefix of games (and downloaded installers) when the installation script fails. The installers usually don't fail until they have installed the games, and if I manage to copy the folder after install before deletion, then it usually works. If they waited with the cleanup until after I had clicked the error message it would be less annoying though.

I pre-ordered this DLC. It is a great game, and I have completed all achievements in the base game and the first two DLCs.

I have a lot of games installed that I have launched once or twice, but never touched again. I tend to forget to turn off auto-update for these games as well. It would have been better if I had streamed those games. I think Stadia would really shine for concepts like free weekends or get the first hours cheap. For games I play a lot, I definitely prefer to run them locally though.
