Got this problem with Mesa 17.2 (R9 380) and people with propietary Nvidia drivers also reported it.
Got the same bug with Mesa 17.2.1
Apparently Mac users have the same issue!

My biggest issue is that the game crashes like crazy on openSUSE Tumbleweed lately, I can rarely finish a game without a crash and restart of the game! Anyone else experiencing similar issues?
No crashes so far in my system (and been playing many games in competitive and casual). I read lots of reports from Windows users about crashes. Maybe there is a link.

Looks like Rome: Total War might be coming to Linux, according to Feral's port radar

Instabuy! I don't have the time for TW games nowdays but... I can't go against my childhood with this game. I'm so nostalgic right now.

I didn't play the latest Total Wars but, IMHO Rome TW was the BEST total war so far. I appreciate a lot that Feral's brings this game to Linux! The ones that don't like Total Wars should really consider give a try to this one, it's not as complex as new ones and it's a lot of fun.

Oh indeed, it’s very recent too. Since libstdc++ comes with gcc, and Debian 8 (Jessie) has gcc 4.9… It means the client won’t work either on Ubuntu 14.04 (gcc 4.8) and Gentoo (gcc 4.9)? Sounds bad.
Are you sure? AFAIK gcc doesn't has as dependency an specific libstc++ version (I mean for linking :P)
