@Zappor: I've been running Cosmic since alpha 5 on my main gaming desktop (has a nvidia RTX 3080), and with the latest alpha 7, I've had zero issues. Previously I ran into some interesting issues related to full screen vs. borderless vs. window, etc. but all of those seem to now be resolved.

Minecraft on Steam Deck Guide with Prism Launcher (and gamepad support)

@Liam One thing I would recommend considering for your guide is the "Fabulously Optimized" mod-pack from CurseForge (rather than just the controller mod). https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/modpacks/fabulously-optimized [External Link]

This includes 44 mods, including the mod which supports controllers. It also installs several performance mods (Fabric based, etc.). It strikes a great balance in keeping vanilla look and feel, adding performance, and adding controller support. The main benefit isn't FPS (since you'll run at 60fps) but battery performance is much better.

Minecraft on Steam Deck Guide with Prism Launcher (and gamepad support)

This is fantastic! I was just looking for a guide like this as I just went through the process of getting GDLauncher setup on my Steam Deck (which is also worth checking out especially in light of the PolyMC debacle). Thanks for providing this! Running Minecraft on the Deck is a fantastic experience once you get things setup with all the performance mods.

NVIDIA have a new Vulkan Beta Driver out for Linux - helping DOOM Eternal on Steam Play
2 Apr 2020 at 3:54 pm UTC

For those of you trying to make the beta driver work with kernel 5.6.x, you'll need to apply a patch to Nvidia's module code in order for it to compile.

I found this which was able to help me get it up and running on Fedora 32 (running kernel 5.6). https://gitlab.com/snippets/1945940 [External Link]

Nice performance improvements overall, he's hoping that the updates make their way into a stable driver release soon!

The excellent puzzle game Opus Magnum is now available on GOG

This game has consumed me over the past several weeks. I've spent way too much time trying to optimize my designs. There's also a great reddit community /r/opus_magnum for those of you that would like to share and examine other designs.

SteamOS has another new beta with a newer Kernel and updated Mesa

I'm glad to see that Valve is finally stepping up their game with Steam OS. Longer term they'll be happy that they're building a better gaming OS. Microsofts future plans to expand the Windows Store will definitely impact Steam on Windows over the next several years.

Wow, looks incredible! Flashback and Out of this World were two of my favorite games as a child.

Wine 2.9 released with support for Direct3D tessellation shaders

Wow! The WINE team has been doing some incredible work. What a fantastic time to be a Linux user. I remember in the early 2000's trying to get the native version of Neverwinter Nights working - what a pain. Now we have Steam with some fantastic games, and WINE making progress almost every day. In another couple months the Witcher 3 should be running great. It's the only game I really miss since making the switch 100% to Linux.

Feral have released the Linux requirements to run Shogun 2 with NVIDIA, AMD & Intel supported

Regarding the Feral GOG situation. Many developers release their games on both GOG and Steam. True the GOG sales are probably a fraction of the Steam sales, but it's just icing on the cake. Why not cast your net far and wide? If you've already gone through the trouble of porting a game to Linux, why wouldn't you release it on GOG? I don't believe it costs anything to put the game up on GOG right? Your revenue is all based on sales.

Saying that Steam is where the money is does not provide the full answer for why Feral ports are exclusive to Steam. Not saying it's right or wrong, there's probably a good reason. Money might be the primary reason, but surely not the only one.
