Facepunch adjust their Linux plans for Rust, refunds being offered as it won't continue at all

Perfectly reasonable response, really. The fact that they are offering refunds regardless of play time (just launching on Linux once is enough) means that they really want to put this behind them and avoid drama.

Judging by how toxic some of the previous comments have been, I don't really fault them.

The first two episodes were great, as was the base game. Shame it's coming to an end :(

Tower of Time was great, so really looking forward to this.

Surprise - Supraland for Linux is now available on GOG

Quoting: Purple Library GuyHuh. Well I gotta say, if I'd been setting fire to bridges as hard as that guy was, I would have had a really hard time getting myself to build them again, so kudos there. Interesting fellow.
Fire to bridges? It was more like a small spark on a twig in the middle of nowhere given it's a niche store on a niche OS with an even more niche group of complainers (Linux gamers who think DRM-free on Steam isn't DRM-free). Good for him for uploading to GOG, but if it was my game I wouldn't even reply and avoid this drama all together.

Seems that the Linux version of Supraland will not be heading to GOG (updated)

Sounds to me there is a lesson [External Link] for GOG here as well:

Believe it or not, Itch has some excellent developer tools. [...] You're going to need to be at least as fast and easy. Because even though Itch will let me take 100% of revenue, and has amazing tools that I recommend to everyone who will listen, I still find it a pain to go over to Yet Another Storefront and upload Yet Another Build whenever I issue a new patch.

You as Yet Another Storefront get this mental friction simply by existing. The deck is already stacked against you. All you can do is add as close to zero as possible to it.

Oh, and if you're designing your API? You need a really good reason for it to not look exactly like Steam's. Actually, no, you don't. There is no good reason. It needs to look exactly like Steam's, ideally being a drop-in replacement for the dll (copyright laws allowing). A developer needs to spend as close to zero seconds as possible reconfiguring their game for your system. If they have to recompile a special build just for you it's gonna be tough going.

Quoting: ShmerlOtherwise it's a waste of time arguing with your nonsense.
You're not arguing, you're a fanatic pushing your views.
Indeed. Whenever the words "AMD" and "Linux" are on the same page on the Internet, there Shmerl is, with his AMD propoganda advocacy.

Quoting: ShmerlSo in a few iterations, RDNA will be very competitive with Nvidia not only in performance, but also in power efficiency. Nvidia are naturally worried - competition is intensifying.
Unless you are a time traveller, this is merely wishful thinking. AMD might become competitive, it might not.

Quoting: ShmerlI don't see a point in buying Nvidia today for Linux gamers.
Yeah, with the exception of best performance, best power consumption and a decade plus history of Linux (and BSD!) support, there is no point.

Quoting: ShmerlNvidia's blob downsides are just not worth it. If you want a card that works properly with the Linux stack, get AMD.
To me there is only one downside: it's a blob. There, that's it. On everything else, it does exactly what I want it to do. One thing I'll give you though is laptops, where Optimus is a pain under Linux. But on desktop it's just smooth sailing. Of course YMMV, my setup (see "view PC info") works for me.

Quoting: ZapporParadox has some outrageous DLC pricing of their own though... :-)
Major expansions around $20 and minor story packs around $10 seem very reasonable to me. Keep in mind that they get less than half that after platform fees, currency conversion and taxes.
