Mesa gets a nice performance boost for Proton games with various videos

I guess Assassin's Creed Origins does the same, everytime I enter the skill tree menu, and I hover some skill to preview it, the framerate tanks when the preview starts playing, and returns to normal when I stop hovering.

Sadly, being on Nvidia means I won't be able to get this fix.

Sounds like proper (-or the nearest we can get to-) Nvidia support is coming to Linux, but at the cost of dropping Pascal and earlier...

Even though I prefer Heroic, it's nice to have more options.

Sadly, on Linux you can't play with the minimum requirements (since GTX9 series and 10 series are AWFUL with VKD3D), should be nice if they did a Vulkan version, but they are sticking to DirectCrap12.

Plasma 6 lands in Arch Linux, KDE neon teething issues and Plasma 6.1 heating up

Quoting: Plintslîcho

Quoting: PlintslîchoAlso, Plasma 6 takes up quite some noticeable amount of RAM at times, even though the system is idling.
If you aren't using KDE PIM (Kmail and etc.) try to disable Akonadi server - it eats a ton of RAM for something you might not use.
Thanks Shmerl, but the service isn't running on my system. It's no big deal, really. I was just astonished that the system at times uses ~ 2GB of RAM when there's not much going on.
2GB out of?

In my case it does, but only when Discover is looking for updates, when said task ends, it returns to 1.2-1.5 GB out of 8GB.

I think it could be optimized a bit more, but even in the current state, uses a lot less than Windows 10/11 (with the former using almost 2.5GB while idle and the latter skyrocketing to 3.6 GB)

It requires at least Windows 8 but also requires DirectX 12....

AYANEO NEXT LITE no longer ships with SteamOS-like HoloISO Linux - Windows 11 instead

Quoting: CorbenOOf... I guess the (social) media attraction the announcement of not shipping with Windows got, also attracted Microsoft. And they've spend some $ so they ship with Windows instead. They could have shipped it with HoloISO and offer Windows drivers like Valve does with the Deck. As they do it now the other way round, I guess some money got involved.
Pretty sure that's the case, and will be hard if not impossible to compete against a company that practically has infinite money.

Also paid voices, it's not a secret that there are lots of suspicious accounts on X which act like M$/XBOX is a cult or something, even a former WoW designer have hinted to this, a "legion" which does the dirty job.

There could be also a bit of involvement by the community, maybe because anti-cheat titles and the f'ing gamepass (if you look closely, all Windows-based handhelds advertisement promote gamepass mainly)

All three of the factors point to the same thing: M$ active involvement, it's crazy.

AYANEO NEXT LITE handheld announced with SteamOS Linux

Finally another SteamOS handheld! I hope this one is available for sale in more countries than the Deck, that would help to boost Linux users a lot, and the better the numbers, the most attention we'll get from developers.

Yet another Wincrap-based handheld, and guess what? It will be available in more markets than the Deck.

Valve needs to release SteamOS 3 and make the Deck available (oficially) in more countries.
