Pillars of Eternity 2 with the turn based combat mode. Still enjoyable after the first 50 hours, but also not without its flaws. The main quest is actually fairly intriguing, but it only comprises a small part of the game. The majority seems to consist of running errands for the 4 factions, none of which are organizations I'd normally want to associate with, were it not for XP and cash. Given that most of their tasks revolve around inter- and intra-faction squabbles, this makes the whole game a somewhat unsatisfying experience as far as the writing is concerned. On top of that, 4 of the companions also have ties to specific factions, which only serves to amplify my impression that the game was written around the factions, instead of them being a small and organic part of a wider and more varied world.

Really wonder if I should get this when instead I can just fire up Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge in FS-UAE?
Would likely be an easier decision if it was available on GOG.

That one has been sitting in my library for quite a while. Great to see some progress! Can't wait to play once it is actually finished.
Talking point: What are you playing this weekend?

Started PoE 2 in turn based mode, but not sure how far I'll get. I also have set my eyes on NAIRI: Tower of Shirin, though I'd have to buy that first (and pray it runs in Wine ... but what doesn't these days!?).
Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire just got a beta to add in a turn-based mode

I only put a few hours into PoE II so far, so this might actually be a good time to start over and play a bit more. At any rate, it's nice to see a game supported and extended by the developer for so long after release. (And more reason to not rush through a game as soon as it is out)

Btw., the game is also available DRM free at the Humble store, and I do hope it eventually makes it's way to GOG (another reason to bide my time for now).

Quoting: gojulSame here. The game is in my wishlist, but no more as reviews are mixed. And ... the same here. It looks interesting from a gameplay perspective, and awesome from an artistic point of view, but I'm usually not buying games on release day (and much less so before).

Seriously, just judging by his show, Bob Ross seemed like a pretty cool guy. Liked his soothing voice, and while his "art" was not so great in the grand scheme of things, I was always fascinated to see it come together in such little time.
Would have been nice if the painting process in Eastshade would be a bit like that (the painting manifesting itself in layers, in a short animation). Instead it looks more like a reverse gaussian blur. A bit simplistic, in my book, given that it's one of the main gameplay elements.

Quoting: Duke TakeshiI bet tutorial of the game will be to watch Bob Ross' the joy of painting...without falling asleep of course :DDone that already, so lets hope we'll be able to skip the tutorial :-).

Some Linux games we’re excited to see in 2019, a list to keep you going

The only one from the list on my radar is In the Valley of Gods. There are a few more that will likely not run natively, but I'm sure they'll be fine with wine.
All in all, 2019 seems to be a bit lacklustre, gaming wise. But it only just begun, so who knows what surprises await us ...

I had been a bit dismayed when it became clear that there wasn't a same-day release for Win/Mac/Linux, but over time I come to think of what was released back then to Windows users as the beta, while all the rest will get the actual release.
I also believe the game's reception could have been better, had it been released with fewer bugs. And those weren't obscure issues that would inevitable creep up in any moderately complex software, but essential stuff that wasn't working. Just going over the notes of the first couple patches made me really wonder what kind of processes and QA they had in place.
