More updates on Ashes of the Singularity: Escalation with Vulkan for Linux

It would be interesting to know more details on the performance differences. Is it between Windows Vulkan vs Linux Vulkan, or Linux Vulkan vs DirectX? Either way sounds kind of weird though, given the success of DXVK.

Does anyone have any idea how to get this working on Mint? I bought it, but it gets stuck after the intro animation with the screen all black except for "1%" in the center of the screen. I've found a couple threads with suggestions, but they all seem to be for non-Ubuntu based distros.

According to netmarketshare Linux hit 6.91% market share last month, higher than Mac

a bit overly optimistic video :) but one can always dream.

I think there has to be some sort of error in the data.. lets say that 3% as it was before was 20 million people (it was probably more though). Now it should be 20 million people more just out of nowhere... haven't heard any news that some governments switched to linux fulltime. Maybe some African countries got into internet the first time? i still doubt it would be that huge gain though.
it has been adjusted to 4.56% so obviously someone goofed on the website.
And now back up to 4.83% :P

Looks like a Linux version of Ashes of the Singularity: Escalation with Vulkan is still on the table

Quoting: N30NThere was a release video:

It's interesting to see the DirectX12 vs Vulkan benchmark results. At lower resolutions performance is comparable:

But at higher resolutions Nvidia seems to have an issue:
Watch the GPU percent utilization for the 1080p comparison, then also the CPU utilization for the 3440x1440 comparison. Either Nvidia's Vulkan implementation is nowhere near as performant as the DX12 implementation, or Vulkan is not yet as optimized as DX12 in AotS' engine.

The Witcher 3 didn't come to Linux likely as a result of the user-backlash from The Witcher 2

Oh for fucks sake... this is not complicated - in fact, it's very simple.

The question is: Is it okay to send death threats to developers that release a poor Linux port. Yes or no.

That's it. There are no shades of grey or wishy-washy "well it's the internet..." or "but I gave them money!" involved here.

The share of Linux users on Steam is still holding steady

All of these come out to 0.47 out of 0.72, and in the previous month it was 0.49 out of 0.81. Are there really that many Steam linux users still on 32-bit OSes?
You can get a good idea of what people use here: https://www.gamingonlinux.com/users/statistics
Which, if anything, actually reinforces my question rather than answers it. According to those stats you linked, only 0.05% of users are on 32-bit distros. But assuming the Steam stats are correct, and that I'm correct in assuming that "Linux 64-bit" is a catch-all for any/all other 64-bit distros, 34.7% of users are on a 32-bit distros.
