Linux market share on Steam now at a 16 month high after a rounding error was fixed
15 Oct 2018 at 5:58 pm UTC

Well, since everyone else seems to be posting theirs...

My ~/.steam (actually ~/.Steam; presumably having originated on Windows, the Steam client is case-insensitive) is a symlink to ~/.local/share/Steam.

cat .steam/steam/config/config.vdf | grep SurveyDate
"SurveyDate" "2018-09-01"
"SurveyDateVersion" "1897588903396382204"
"SurveyDateType" "3"

The date's absolutely correct. I think I mentioned the first of September before.

I can't help wondering if the survey window is appearing underneath the main Steam window for some people and they just don't notice it. I don't like to cast aspersions on fellow GoLers' window management skills, but it's surely a possibility. And if it is the case, it's something Valve should fix.

Chacun à son gôut. KRZ left me cold (I might give it another try someday), but War for the Overworld is tempting.

You did see "Orwell: Ignorance is Strength"?
I knew the orignal was episodic, and didn't realise that was a whole new game. One of the perils of releasing episodic content, I suppose. I'll have to check it out.

Oh yes, I played it a few weeks ago. It's not what you expect, is it? I thought it would be a preachy polemic about surveillance and terrorism, but it's actually an excellent little detective story. Yes, it makes you think about digital surveillance - especially the twist at the end (I won't give it away) - but it never rams it down your throat or lets the message get in the way of the gameplay.

I thoroughly enjoyed it, much to my surprise. The only disappointment was that there isn't more of it.

Until GOG bunged me that free copy of Shadow Warrior 2, I'd found myself playing Euro Truck Simulator 2 again. I hadn't played it in ages - I think the Scandinavia DLC had just come out, and I don't think I'd seen the real licenced Mercedes trucks until now - and I'm beginning to wonder if it was before I bought my current graphics card. I was never able to run it at the highest settings before (in fact, when I loaded it up, it was on the lowest).

What with that and some of the improvements that have been made since I last played, and I'm really enjoying it. And I'm still not sure why. :)

I wish the Steam Controller would work with it, though. In the last update, the release notes say that it was fixed on Linux. But it just plain doesn't work.

Quoting: GuestBeen trying out Shadow Warrior 2 as well since it was given out free by GOG.com, mind you I've been dual booting to play it and probably going to try it under wine at some point, from what I can gather it uses DX11 so will probably need to use DXVK on top of that. It's already a very demanding game under windows 10 so interested to find out how it will run under latest Wine
I don't know what your specs are, but I was surprised at how well it runs here. I haven't checked the framerate (it'll only annoy me), but it's perfectly playable. Of course, I don't dual-boot, so I've nothing to compare with. But with DXVK, I can't imagine there's a huge performance hit.

The Steam Play whitelist just had a large update including The Witness and Wolfenstein: The Old Blood

No it was not on the original list, which can be seen here [External Link].
Fair enough, Liam. I wasn't questioning your reporting; I just could have sworn that it was. Oh, well. :dizzy:

Wasn't Castle Crashers already on the whitelist? I was under the impression it was the only whitelisted game I owned. :)

It does work absolutely flawlessly, by the way.

I see Just Cause 3 is in the Square Enix sale for silly money. I loved the first two games, but while the Wine AppDB gives it a “silver”, spcr.netlify.com says it's “Borked”.

Anyone have any experience they can offer? At under 3GBP, I'm tempted to give it a punt anyway, but I don't want to waste my cash on something that'll never work due to DRM or similar...

Quoting: XicronicDoes anyone else here suffer from poor performance on EU4 / CK2?
I haven't noticed any performance issues (although, to be fair, I don't have anything to compare with), but CK2 has always had problems with graphics quality for me. It's particularly noticeable on the map text.
