Quoting: SolidarityInteresting work! I wonder how well it deals with unvanquished [External Link]
Well, from what I've tested it works very well with non-valve games ironically :D. Unigine Tropics actually ran at 60fps with the newest update and Xonotic already ran great so you can expect great things in that area. Also since unvanquished is OpenGL 2.1, that area is already very mature and so stability will be flawless.

Quoting: leillo1975I bought this game last week and think it's really good. It's strange to see the logo of Microsoft in my Ubuntu.
Tell me about it, I was worried for a second... then relaxed when I saw the D:AET logo :)
Editor: Microsoft Studios (XBOX Live Arcade)
Was that a note to me as the editor? I don't get what you're wanting?
I presume he was talking to me about Microsoft being the publisher of Dust:AET. In that case they barely were after the Xbox Days and its been 2 years since then. But yeah I know where the MS logo came from; with his involvement with XNA.

Quoting: HadBabitsGot this a while back. Very pretty, but the writing and voice acting became unbearable. I came off with the impression that this is for anime fans.
I didn't think it was thaaaat bad. I think the story could have dome with some more polish, a bit more linking together and following up on previous events but I felt the voice acting was plenty good enough for a indie game, one which didn't actually have plans for voice acting until MS requested it.

Steam Hardware Survey For February 2014, Linux Is Holding

Quoting: edgleyAnother 0.11% unaccounted for. Seems like more people are going OS-less!
Well you know, I do love to use a computer while I'm coding its environment, why use an operating system when you can code raw programs?

Steam Hardware Survey For February 2014, Linux Is Holding

Would like to see Steam pick up individual distros, as many as possible. It would look very pretty in a pie chart. Not sure if there is an easy way to find the distro name...

EDIT:
Nvm. Entering
cat /etc/*-release
gives you a very nice readout of distro stuff.

I remember this game from a while back when it was in alpha I think. Very good game for a browser based one.

Quoting: EdwardMy comparison between mesa 10.2 (oibaf ppa- kubuntu x64) and latest catalyst with tf2 and amd 7950.
Catalyst:
Vsync cause input lag
AA cause lag
During the game startup from the video to menu the loading take ages.
Some game have trouble with some missing .so file (but i used the steam installer from the site not that one from ubuntu repo. I still need to check if the repo solve the error)

All problem that I don't have with the mesa driver. Off course the frame rate is better with the catalyst. But if the driver can stay on 60 fps who care.
Exactly, I can't tell you how many times catalyst has sodded up my install but its good to have a no hassle driver. The frames aren't great for me but its good enough that I can live with a little less graphics settings if it means the driver just works.

Quoting: AnonymousThe open source drivers work well with valve games such as CS:source and l4d2

They cannot seem to handle dota2 well though, radeonsi latest git, kernel, xorg, mesa, atidri and it's clay animation unless turned down to the lowest settings.

however it really handles l4d2 well with the exception of some odd artifacting (coaches head has void where his hair should be) but much smoother than catalyst at roughly 1/10 to 1/4 the frames but feels faster (considering catalyst cranks out 300 fps and stutters, 1/10 to 1/4 is VERY playable as it's ~30-~80 fps. max eye candy @ full HD)

the power management is sorta there, but it still likes to get it up to high profile and bake your card but it seems semi-working.

It really pains me that usually the strong suit of the OSS driver is the weakness of the blob and vice versa.
Yeah, it's how it is now but the future looks good. AMD are actually helping out with the FOSS driver much more than Nvidia so hopefully if all goes well you will no longer to choose between them.

Quoting: RiottaGreat article, I think also you should use GALLIUM_HUD=fps %command% in steam app startup options, when testing a game, that will show more readable fps counter for people watching your videos.
Noted, I did enable the FPS overlay for source games but it didn't do a great job. Thanks for the feedback though.
