Interesting that they are using Gnome for a desktop manager. I personally prefer it but I do know that the 3.6< had issues with rendering games so I wonder if they made some adjustments to that. If I were valve i would have gone for lxde with a bit of eye candy thrown in so the desktop was functional but not the centrepiece.
Haven't tried SteamOS yet but i will do in the new year when i build a steam box.

Actvision.
Can't think of much they own that i want to play.
Guess this is why people go for indie games.
...MS arn't paying activision behind the scenes are they?

Bought it and its Ok. I think it needs quite a few more updates/ modding support to take off though. There is about 10 hours of gameplay in this dispite its randomizer since the enemy types and guns are a bit weak. Still, worth £5-6 with the promise of more updates.

Damn good news. Means that valve have even more power to push AMD/Nvidia to make their drivers the equivalent of Windows. Everyone has their reasons why they can't "switch" to Linux but one of the more prominent ones is that Linux isn't getting you as much value for money for your hardware. But Valve can and will change that, just as they changed/invented game digital distribution back in 2003.

My opinion isn't going to apply to everyone since i have a new 7950 which should never stutter but the AMD drivers arn't that bad on it. Sure its nothing like the preformance the card is capable of but i don't get microstutter, input lag or any problems. Most games run max frames although my most demanding game is currently TF2 (yeah, blame the lack of AAA linux games) but overall i'm a happy customer.
Although occasionally i'm reminded of some vsync issues, i had that on windows with every amd card to date so i blame that just on traditions.
TL;DR: AMD drivers arn't as bad as people say, but could be quite a bit better too.

This could be a great game to play from the sofa :)

Quoting: Quote from migiziI can see the reason they may have opted for local co-op only. First would be lag. A fighting game doesn't lend itself to online multiplayer without a middle man server. Otherwise someone will always get cheated out of something because a delay in actions and sync issues. So to solve that they would have had to create a server to handle, validate, and keep in sync all player actions. That would have added cost.This. I prefer fighting games locally and having local games are much easier to program and keep features than online play. However i don't know about splitscreen for coop. I prefer just to have one big screen so the tempation to peek at someone elses screen and its a bit offputting having your resolution halved only in height.

Played it way back in the dark days of windows and it was pretty awesome. Sometimes you get confused at what your goal is but its not too bad all in all. Its wierd that i havn't tried my hand at the RTS element because only one person per team can participate in that.
