Shadow of the Tomb Raider is officially coming to Linux in 2019

I believe that, in the future, Feral could offer the service to port a game to all platforms on PC. Windows, Linux and MacOS. If they could get a PS4/Xbox One version and port to the three platforms without a cost much higher than porting to just Windows, i think that a lot more companies would start to launch their games on Linux.

I mean, the cost has to be lower than investing in making a game for Win10 and then for Linux and MacOS all with different technologies

A writer for Forbes has been talking about the positives of switching to Linux

You know, something i rarely see discussed with Linux, Wine and etc is how better linux is to play retro games. Not only old consoles, but old PC games as well.

I tried to play Evil Genius on my Windows 10 machine and it didnt wanted to work. No matter what i did.

On Linux with Wine on the other hand, was really easy. Just installed the game via Steam, installed the community patch and worked with no issues.

And is a much better alternative than building a retro pc.

Valve may be adding support for using compatibility tools for playing games on different operating systems

Quoting: DamonLinuxPLWell this is amazing news but I have been disappointed with such things many times. Worst of all if it will be a compatible profile for running games from xp/vista/7 in Windows 10 :D
You know, it didn't even occur to me (it should have) that it could indeed be for Windows games no longer running on later versions of Windows...

Although, it would be a little amusing if that feature was in both Windows/Linux and used Wine for both. There must be a few games by now that run better in Wine than on the latest version of Windows due to how many changes it's been through. There's a reason we see a lot of remasters coming out after all part of their feature is usually "now works on latest operating systems".
Tbh i prefer to play old games on Wine than Windows 10 because they all work much better. I even need to do more fixes to work proper on Windows 10

Quoting: XpanderLooks quite cheap if you ask me. No suspension animations, handling seems super arcade also and not in a good way like say Flatout 2. Looks more like some mobile game. Somehow i smell "MadOut" in this. Which is fine i guess if the price is fair
It does look basic, right? I'm still holding out for Drag, but I haven't heard anything for ages - it's been over 6 months when it was "coming soon". Did I miss a release announcement?
well, its just 2 guys working on it. It probably had some publishment which is not that simple even these days.

Tri-Core? Wait, the i3-8350K is Quad-Core. Did you disabled one core to increase overclock?

Quoting: Hori
Quoting: ewertonurias"lower prices too"?
Omg... I'm Brazilian, our salary is R$ 1000, and a "GTX 1060 Galaxy 6GB 192Bits here costs R$ 1600.
Here practically everything is inaccessible.

Where do you live, it's also so expensive? Asking for curiosity.
They are expensive everywhere.

Also, sorry to say this, but if what you say is true and a 1060 is 160% your salary... then no matter how many companies enter the market, it's not going to make it affordable to you. Sure the price *may* drop, but not a lot.

I often hear brazilians complaining about hardware prices. I'm not sure why but most probably it is because of import taxes. IF that's the case then it's the brazilian legislation that needs adjustments. Or maybe it's not officially sold in Brazil and thus isn't imported in mass quantities. It's also worth noting that very often, those prices for the US don't include the VAT, but prices for other countries do. This might make it look like it's much cheaper in US than another place when in fact it might not be.
Anyway, more often than not it's a combination of all those things.
Brazilian here.

Everything is so pricey here because of a combination of everything you said.

We have high import taxes, the normal is 60% and some special products get less.

Every company has high taxes too, and really complicated ones, Brazil is the country that takes more time to companys to calculate their taxes, which add to cost too.

And what ewertonurias said is true. Our minimun wage is R$980 per month and a GTX 1060 do cost R$1600, but before all the mining fever the prices were lower.

Not many people know this, but we are more closed than Cuba in a lot os aspects, only way to offer competitive prices is opening a assembly plant here and this narrow down our options of brands and products, so is hard to find a new player investing in here.

Man, i feel for the people who funded this game in 2015 on Kickstarter.

This game was changed so many times, got a deal with Gearbox for they to publish and now MS bought the studio.

4 Years of development and i hope know they finally launch this game.

I would love a machine with only a i7-8750H, but every laptop with this kind of CPU has a GPU too to increase the prices.

I cant find even a THinkpad with a CPU like that, and in the past they had this options.
