CRYENGINE to get improved Linux support
16 Jan 2018 at 12:26 am UTC

Quoting: fedotixHello

Can we dream about (one day or soon ) "Farcry" on linux ?
Only FarCry 1 was made on a CryEngine. After that used custom engines of Ubisoft, and ubi is a company that doesnt support linux :(

Quoting: TheRiddickFor a company making crazy amounts of money, you'd think they could hire a army of programmers and problem solvers at least short term to sort out the performance issues and porting it to Linux... They must be spending a fair bit on blow and hookers or something... a common developer success trap.
Well its hard to find developers who are willing to move to new location, i remember ARK devs had (maybe still have this issue) problems finding good engine developers who know the code. These days there are so many game engines where you don't need to know much about coding to make a game, but when it gets big and needs special optimizations you need someone with more skills to optimize it.
In gaming it looks like it isnt a common practice to hire programmers to do homework in another cities or countrys.

It could help a lot of devs

Speculation: Counter-Strike: Global Offensive might be getting a PUBG-like mode

Quoting: NaibInteresting.
Also... when is CSGO moving over to source2 (or whatever the engine dota2 uses). There was talk this would be out the summer gone
I was asking me the same.

A Source2 would be much better to handle a type of game like PUBG and his massive maps

Quoting: legluondunetIs Wine the future for developers to make multiplatform game (Windows, MacOSX, Linux, Android)?
A better way that develop native games?
Nope. It will be better to develop true multiplatform and native games if they use tools like Vulkan that works on all OS with the same code.

The Linux-powered Ataribox pre-order launch has been 'officially paused'
14 Dec 2017 at 8:51 pm UTC

If they have the prototype ready, they can launch already on IndieGogo. It doesnt need to be working 100% now since they would have time to prepare the final version.

Pause the campaign now it it really strange

ARK: Survival Evolved works again on Linux, water still broken on some maps

Anyone still wants to support this company buying this game? I mean, they sell this as a AAA game, they launched for PS4, Xbox One, Windows, Linux but all versions have problems. They have the money to fix a lot of the issues but if they cant even setup a PC with a linux distribution to test the game, for me it just seems like lazy work that it does not deserve my money.

I wish the game was in a good state so i could play with my friends, but i prefer investing my money on better companies

Steam has a special Finland Anniversary Sale of games made by Finnish developers

I always wanted to do a exchange program to Finland. I heard that the universities from there are pretty good. Too bad that the coin from my country is really weak compared to Euro

was an exclusivity deal with shield, it dont run in any other android
Yeah, but if Atari launched a Android device with Tegra X1, im pretty sure that both capcom and Nvidia(who ported the game) would like an increase in sales with zero cost.

Doom 3 was one of the games working in the Pixel C for example, so it's not impossible that other games were ported to a new device with Tegra X1 and Android

Quoting: WJMazepasIt's not Android, nor Android or Chrome OS works with AMD CPU. And if they were using Android they would say it rather than saying its linux because to Android is more known to the general public than linux
android DO run on x86, i dont know why it would be compatible with AMD.
I dont know the specific information why, but Android only works with intel CPUs in X86 version. You can even see that in the Android x86 page.

Also, if they were going with Android, the best route would be go with a Snapdragon or even Tegra X1 because the support for Android is really good, a lot of games already were ported to Shield TV like Doom 3 BFG, Tomb Raider and Resident Evil 5.
Besides it runs 4k UltraHD content from every streaming app availabe on the Android like Netflix, HBO GO and Amazon Prime
That's not entirely true. I have (now non-working) an HP Touchsmart that has a Turion X2 in it that ran Android x86, it even supported the touch screen and everything. Downside was as soon as they released a version that did that, I had booted it up, and then randomly the screen became corrupted and after that it was simply dead. So not sure if Android killed it or.. well it is an HP.
Never saw an AMD working with Android. Even for app development they alway recommended Intel, only now with Ryzen that AMD became good to develop for Android.

Well, even so it's pretty hard to see a Android device with an AMD
