Quoting: MohandevirYeah... Talking about old hardware... Did I mentionned that I have played The Bard's Tale and Wizardry on an Apple IIE, with the green monochrome screen?

Anybody on a VIC-20?
Couple questions here :
1.Where do you people FIND that stuff ?!
2.How can you afford that stuff ?
Excellent question! In my case I "exploited" my older brother who bought that computer for his programmation courses. He's 13 years older than me so...
What programming course is he taking that he needs an Apple 2 ? Really curios now.
Did you miss this was decades ago?

Which leads me to another question:
Might it be possible that Linux especially appeals to (us) old farts?
I dont think so. I met a lot of old people in college and work that talk about all PCs that they used back in the times, and only a few use linux this days. I believe that a lot of then still have the ideia that linux its really complicated like those days

Quoting: Mar2ckFinally! We've been bottlenecked by a 32-bit os for too long. I just hope theyre making good progress on that vulkan driver.
They mentioned in a commentary while launching the Pi4 8GB that the progress is going well and that we should hear more news in the upcoming months

Quoting: vmGuys. Guys. Do you realize how much money is $250k? It's nothing. It's a fat 1 year salary. OK, for maybe 2 people. It's not development budget for a large, complex software. It's sandwiches and beer for a couple of bedroom coders.. to last them a while. One extra fat salary does not turn Godot into a production software, or any kind of competition to Unity or Unreal.
Its small money for a developer living in Silicon Valley. The main developer of Godot lives in Argentina and that money is enough for 4 years living pretty well there.

Also, Godot receives US$10k per month on Patreon. US$250k is more than 2 years of funding of Patreon in comparison so is a lot of money

Quoting: TheRiddickHmmm, I thought they upgraded to a vega APU?

Anyway in a few short months we should see Navi APU's, I do hope for 8core models but possibly that is hopeful thinking (even tho Intel have 8core apus....)
Its Basically a Athlon 200GE with a 15W TDP. 2 Zen Cores with 4 Threads and 3 Vega CUs.

But they are using a special version called Ryzen embedded V1000 IIRC.

Steam Summer Sale 2019 is live, here’s what to look out for Linux fans
30 Jun 2019 at 5:51 pm UTC

Quoting: Comandante ÑoñardoI know that buying a Windows game via the Linux Steam client and playing it via PROTON counts as a Linux purchase.
But what about gifts?
What if I buy a windows game as a gift using the Linux steam client? Will it count as a Linux sale too?
The way Steam works is that the sale counts on what machine you first play the game IIRC. So if i buy my games on Windows, but play then on linux, in less than 2 weeks after my purchase, it will count as a linux purchase.

So it depends on the OS your friend will play and if he will play the game in 2 weeks. If he took longer than that then probably it will count as a Linux sale

Psyonix, creator of Rocket League is joining Epic Games (updated)

Quoting: gradyvuckovicEveryone, Epic Games!
Lets all thank them for bringing COMPETITION to gaming RIGHT?!

So there goes a Linux native game. An actual game with an actual native Linux title, will be bought and locked up in a store that doesn't support Linux. It will no longer be available for purchase and play on Linux because of Epic.
If you have on Steam you still will be able to play. Even if they do remove from the store, you will be able to download with no issues. I have Deadpool on my game list and i can play with no issues, even if is not sold on Steam.

If they remove from Steam and make somehow unplayable for everyone, or just Linux users, then they are facing a lawsuit. And even with Fortnite money im pretty sure they wont like that.

The worst case scenario is that we wont be able to buy DLCs and things like that because for that we will need the Epic Store and thats on Windows.
