The new Dead Space is sadly a great big mess on Steam Deck

Quoting: Liam DaweHow can a main menu perform so bad? 🫠
Not mentioning any names... but there was that unspecified Amazon MMO crap game not so long ago which popped RTX 3090's like an overzealous teenager working his first shift in the local cinema popcorn booth. This also in the main menu of the game which basically meant if you started the game, RIP your GPU. So it could be worse.

Quoting: Xpanderjust to add more.. glxosd was a thing also and on wine you could use WINEDEBUG=+fps and then bring that output to overlay like thing with osd_cat.

Quoting: mr-victoryDoes this also affect Wayland?
Yes. Switching to X11 does nothing to alleviate the issue. Use Stable client or wait for a fix.

I remember the times before Mangohud was a thing. We use to look to MSI Afterburner with envy and wonder why we couldn't have something similar in Linux. Sure there were things like Gallium HUD, VK_LAYER_MESA_overlay and DXVK_HUD but they were not exactly on par with Afterburner. How far we've come... I am eternally grateful for the tireless efforts from so many developers out there, frogs and others.

Quoting: F.Ultrathere will now be a scheduler problem that is worse than on Alder Lake
Well, a potential problem at least. If it even is a problem at launch I expect it to be addressed quickly, much like Alder Lake was.

Quoting: ArehandoroI wish they also included the max TDP, like Intel in the previous announcement
But TDP numbers are nearly useless, all manufacturers use their own incomprehensible algorithms to conjure up their magical numbers. Gamers Nexus has addressed this many times over the last couple of years if you want to dive into this particular swamp.

Cyberpunk 2077 should get the award for most developer abuse and bugs both at launch and post-one million patches. A crime and a complete joke that it beat Deep Rock Galactic for Labor Of Love.

Also Scorn was robbed of Outstanding Visual Style. Spider-Man MM looks good but it's just a game. Scorn is a masterclass in visual design. Guess it was just too disgusting, which in itself is another testament to its graphical prowess.

NVIDIA RTX 4070 Ti launches January 5th

Faster than a 3090 Ti? That's a bold claim. Performance back when it was called '4080 12 GB' was more in line with a 3080. Guess we'll see soon.
