Had to try it again just now.
Steam beta client, Swords of Ditto Linux native (regular version), Debian sid/KDE Plasma/Nvidia/3440x1440/Logitech F710 gamepad. Could not ask for better performance, pretty much flawless running vsynced to 120 fps.

As a side note, the demo actually runs very well in Proton, but you can only walk around in the first area as you run into a roadblock white screen immediately upon entering the first level.
