Quoting: The fine articleBret Taylor, Twitter's Independent Board Chair, said, "The Twitter Board conducted a thoughtful and comprehensive process to assess Elon's proposal with a deliberate focus on value, certainty, and financing. The proposed transaction will deliver a substantial cash premium, and we believe it is the best path forward for Twitter's stockholders."Remember kids, corporations are not your friends. Unless you are a shareholder, then they begrudgingly care about you until you own a significant chunk of shares and then they will pretend to actually be a friend.

I've played it on and off since version "0.C Cooper" back in 2015. Great game which has had some rough spots from time to time, especially with regards to nutrition and clothing, but overall a fantastic story-telling device.
My most memorable start was as a retired world war veteran starting in a burning retirement home. I got out with my rheumatism, a bad back, my comfiest blazer, a broken pocket watch and my trusty walking cane to bash zombies with. He ended his life as a rapier-wielding lord of a mighty mansion when he got a bit too close to what can only be described as the child of the Hulk and Elecman.
I have seen some voice their concern with regards to perma-death and that is a valid concern, this is an unforgiving game in that regard. If you dislike that, there are some ways around it, but none that are supported by the game or the developers as far as I know. Better for your sanity to just leave this one alone and go play something you can truly enjoy instead. Life is too short to be frustrated by our media of choice.
If you, the reader, prefer to watch these types of games in a Let's Play, may I perhaps recommend the LPs of Aavak? Let's Play: Cataclysm: DDA - Second Wave [External Link]. They are a couple of years old and the game have changed a fair bit but the core gameplay and feel remains the same all the way back to 2015.

GNOME 42 released with the new global dark-style preference

Since they come from different viewpoints and ideas of what an ideal system should look-/feel-like they come up with more cool ideas that the other can benefit from, which has happened a lot of times. Gnome is not for me, and I'm not a fan of their main devs from time to time, but they have had some good ideas that can be aped by the others.

Quoting: GuestI can sort of see resentment towards dividing resources, but that's one curse and blessing of open source and open platforms. Insert the xkcd "Standards" comic here.Agreed. Personally I think it is great that they are dividing resources.

Quoting: EikeCorrect. Do note that everyone you mentioned above are people who know you personally in another context, and as you mentioned "you know your stuff with computers, right?!? [...]" and not "as an expert, [...]". The second clue there is in the ", right?!?".Quoting: shorbergI guess that's why you and me and most of us are never asked by friends, family and even close-to-strangers: "You know your stuff with computers, right?!? How can I ..."Quoting: Guest"Normies" don't ask for help when they're uncertain about things? Because that sounds counter-intuitive.That is actually true.
Your average user, sometimes negatively referred to as "normies", generally don't ask questions from experts for the same reason I don't ask questions from fashion experts on what colours go together.
Oh wait...

Your average user, sometimes negatively referred to as "normies", generally don't ask questions from experts for the same reason I don't ask questions from fashion experts on what colours go together. The imposter syndrome [External Link] plays in here and we are generally afraid to appear dumb and be made fun of, especially if we are under the impression that this is something "other people have managed to do". Thus they usually only reach for an expert when things are broken and most often they are a bit sheepish and apologetic about it and genuinely happy that you, the mighty expert, takes time to help them out. Even though it is the fault of us experts that they run into these issues in the first place.
Having worked in tech-support with both your average home owner and with people who are experts in their respective fields I've seen this thing in action, and I read several studies about it in uni though I would sadly have to go dig through my archives to find any specific paper, haven't looked at them for a decade now.

Quoting: GuestThat is actually true.Quoting: F.Ultra"Normies" don't ask for help when they're uncertain about things? Because that sounds counter-intuitive.Quoting: GuestWell that part was actually part of their "challenge" in that they should approach it as "normies" and not as some one that have instant access to an expert.Quoting: TuxeeHe could have asked Anthony, but being stubborn, didn't.Quoting: GuestThe fact this slipped through System 76's internal testing is absolutely inexcusable! What other options does he have as an "uninformed user"? You get the information that some packages are being removed. So? Then he would have to know what this packages are actually good for. And as already mentioned: He had no other option than to hit "y" if he wanted Steam.
Also, who actually ignores warning messages and proceeds regardless?
I get the impression Linus is not as clueless as he makes out and ultimately manipulated his viewers.

I would not dismiss those arguments as they are fair critique with regards to the pricing, but they don't really reflect on whether or not the DLC itself is actually good or not. Unfortunately it can be quite difficult to find the genuine criticism for the DLCs as it is usually buried in the Paradox forums.
There have been some really rough spots especially with the last two which had poor launches, and Leviathan in particular had a disastrous launch which has yet to be fixed. Fixing it turned out to be hard so hot-fixing one thing broke another which had to be hot-fixed etc. They wisely stopped and put their focus on taking their time to release what will be the November 11 patch. (Hopefully to much rejoice.)
Quality has taken a bad turn now and then, and I've certainly had my fair share of criticism with parts of a DLC, but the overall picture is not as bad as the reviews would have potential new-comers believe.
For instance some people will throw a lot of nasty words at certain DLC because they change a function or dynamic that in turn made it more difficult to speed run a world conquest using the same strategy as before. You can still do them, you just have to change your strategy. As for why that changed it is generally for multiplayer balance and to make non world conquest runs more interesting. World conquest is a minority playstyle but with some very vocal individuals unfortunately.

Quoting: dxmnGiven that only two of the plethora of DLCs that Paradox have released for EUIV have at least mostly positive reviews on Steam, I'm not getting excited just yetI would be a bit cautious simply going by the summary on any title but especially Paradox's DLCs. There have been periods of people protesting the DLC and pricing policy by putting up a negative review. If you look at e.g. Dharma you can see that there are several negative reviews that only boil down to "$20 is too much! Greed, I say!".

Quoting: BielFPshow feasible is it to run KDE wayland in an old notebook with pentium T4200?I think it would be pretty feasible. If you have to run graphics acceleration through llvmpipe on a T4200 you might get better results in X11 though. Plasma in and of itself isn't very heavy.
