Weird! I was just reminiscing about Nox with my brother the other day and have been in the mood to play Nox since, and then this news drops!

I take it at as a sign by the gods that I should indeed play the game again!

To the downloads, and beyond!

Yeah, me either. It's surprising how few outlets seem to realise that PC means "Personal Computer", not "Microsoft Windows".

Linux hardware vendor System76 is coming to Europe

Quoting: propertyI've previously ordered a laptop from System76 before they had a German keyboard layout and learned the hard way that the US layout has less keys.

I'm really glad that they do well and can expand to other markets.
This has always been the blocker for me when considering laptops from the smaller vendors. Since I write my native language a lot I need to have a 105-key ISO layout at least, and preferably the Nordic one. But it is rare to be able to get.

I fully understand why small vendors might not be able to offer the non-ANSI one, but unfortunately they shut off a lot of markets that way.

Seeing as it's written and performed by Laura Shigihara [External Link], I'd venture a guess and say it's Japanese. I don't speak Japanese though, so I could be wrong.
It isn't Japanese at least, but as for what it can be I don't know. Could also be invented.

Twitter agrees to Elon Musk buyout, a reminder we're on Mastodon

Quoting: einherjarThe thing I miss is, that people listen to each other and then discuss things. But today it mostly is like identifiying the other as right or left.
While I share your sentiment, and hope for the future, for the sake of the discussion let's be clear that such an enlightened time have never actually existed.

Twitter agrees to Elon Musk buyout, a reminder we're on Mastodon

Quoting: The fine articleBret Taylor, Twitter's Independent Board Chair, said, "The Twitter Board conducted a thoughtful and comprehensive process to assess Elon's proposal with a deliberate focus on value, certainty, and financing. The proposed transaction will deliver a substantial cash premium, and we believe it is the best path forward for Twitter's stockholders."
Remember kids, corporations are not your friends. Unless you are a shareholder, then they begrudgingly care about you until you own a significant chunk of shares and then they will pretend to actually be a friend.

Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead is a sprawling FOSS apocalypse roguelike

I've played it on and off since version "0.C Cooper" back in 2015. Great game which has had some rough spots from time to time, especially with regards to nutrition and clothing, but overall a fantastic story-telling device.

My most memorable start was as a retired world war veteran starting in a burning retirement home. I got out with my rheumatism, a bad back, my comfiest blazer, a broken pocket watch and my trusty walking cane to bash zombies with. He ended his life as a rapier-wielding lord of a mighty mansion when he got a bit too close to what can only be described as the child of the Hulk and Elecman.

I have seen some voice their concern with regards to perma-death and that is a valid concern, this is an unforgiving game in that regard. If you dislike that, there are some ways around it, but none that are supported by the game or the developers as far as I know. Better for your sanity to just leave this one alone and go play something you can truly enjoy instead. Life is too short to be frustrated by our media of choice.

If you, the reader, prefer to watch these types of games in a Let's Play, may I perhaps recommend the LPs of Aavak? Let's Play: Cataclysm: DDA - Second Wave [External Link]. They are a couple of years old and the game have changed a fair bit but the core gameplay and feel remains the same all the way back to 2015.

Welcome to flatpak!
But, why it doesn't use the /var folder?
Basically because some of the main developers have a hard time admitting to doing mistakes: https://github.com/flatpak/flatpak/issues/1651 [External Link]

GNOME 42 released with the new global dark-style preference

Quoting: GuestI can sort of see resentment towards dividing resources, but that's one curse and blessing of open source and open platforms. Insert the xkcd "Standards" comic here.
Agreed. Personally I think it is great that they are dividing resources.

Since they come from different viewpoints and ideas of what an ideal system should look-/feel-like they come up with more cool ideas that the other can benefit from, which has happened a lot of times. Gnome is not for me, and I'm not a fan of their main devs from time to time, but they have had some good ideas that can be aped by the others.
