Quoting: Doc AngeloThis doesn't strike me as something where Linux is the core part of the thing. For me, it sounds like they just mention Linux because its a kinda popular thing for people to give money in advance.
OS should not be core part of the hardware. But as long as hardware has open drivers - Linux would run there. AMD APU is already a plus there (Mesa and all). What about controller drivers? Will they be open?

Quoting: HoriI'm gonna be that guy who's gonna say that you can already have a "Linux" handheld if you mount a controller on an Android smartphone. There's actually quite a few good games (in a sea of otherwise terrible and insulting ones) like Crashlands, Don't Starve, GTAs, Meltdown, many others.
Well, show me a device that can run proper Wayland compositor without libhybris hacks, and I'd agree. So far Librem 5 didn't come out.

Quoting: CreakAs for GTA 5, well if most of the games you want to play are AAA games, then maybe it would be better to install Windows on this device, don't you think?
Why would you? The whole point is to have a Linux handheld computer. What it can run is already secondary ;)

Quoting: CreakWell put Cheeseness. You're totally right, both Unity devs and the game devs would not want this kind of feature. It would be way too much troubles for very little advantages. The simplest solution for everyone is still to upgrade your game to the Unity release containing your fix.
Simplest, but not available if developers don't have time or will to do it. So giving users that unsupported option is not a bad thing in such case. Most will never use it, and those who would, know it's not a guaranteed method. If Unity would have been properly FOSS, it would have been doable anyway, just by the nature of the openness :)

I think what Unity developers can do, is to make easily downloadable versions of their engine binaries available for everyone, with indication which ones are compatible with which (since if I remember correctly, simply replacing the binary can be enough to run some games). It would help those who bought games that aren't updated by developers anymore.

Quoting: CheesenessI don't think this is a regression.
It is a bug though, which could be caught with some unit testing I suppose. Which probably means they don't have thorough unit testing in place (something like fullscreen / non fullscreen is a basic option to test).

Quoting: CreakEDIT: Also, there is a display port, so maybe the possibility to plug it to the TV?
You can convert DP into anything, but not anything else into DP. So it would work.
