The impressive 2D cyberpunk action-RPG Dex is now DRM free on GOG

Quoting: wolfyrionGOG should have given steam keys as well on every game purchase, like Humble.
Both DRM Free and Steam Key.
Why should they? Steam is their competitor. It's up to Steam to offer something like that if developers approve. I.e. similar to GOG connect.

Yes, I definitely felt some relation to Beneath A Steel Sky (including entering cyberpace and etc.). It's cyberpunk after all, so it's not that surprising :) And 2D style adds to the similarity as well.

Deep Silver & Techland are not supporting Dead Island Definitive Edition on Linux, at all

Quoting: ShmerlI suppose it's the reason why GOG rejected Metro games. Companies which don't fix their bugs are jerks.
What bugs were in the Metro Redux ports? The only problem I had was it didn't like my custom alsa setup. I played through both games and was happy with the performance and stability.
I can't say, since GOG don't publish reasons for rejection. But such blatant refusal to support could have played a role.

People often compare it to Bioshock, but it's not really a good comparison. Developers spoke about it many times. See beyond the visual style resemblance and research genre influences and inspirations.

I suppose it's the reason why GOG rejected Metro games. Companies which don't fix their bugs are jerks.

What I feel about it is simple - don't buy games from such developers / publishers which make such agreements, since they treat you like trash.

The only exception I'd make are defunct companies which can't fix their bugs (Troika for instance). Since in that case it's out of their hands. But cases like above is about being a cheapskate (i.e. Deep Silver releasing a buggy version and not wanting to spend any money on fixing it).

A developer from Dontnod Entertainment has created a UE4 hack to compile HLSL shaders on Linux

We need a proper open HLSL compiler to port DX games properly. MS plan to open up their HLSL parser at least. See here: https://github.com/KhronosGroup/glslang/issues/200 [External Link]
