The Witcher 3 Is Reportedly Really Coming To Linux

The game also features a good manual, and not reading it a poor excuse for ranting that alchemy / magic system doesn't make much sense.
Complexity of combat is known, but there is an arena mode which can be used for training without touching the main storyline.

Quoting: HamishI know next to nothing about The Witcher or anything else related to it, but I do know I would not be so quick to discount Yahtzee there Shmerl. ;)I didn't really see his other reviews so I can't comment on him as a reviewer, but this one sounded more like an uninformed rant to me. If he wanted to get better informed, he could easily do it here: http://witcher.gamepedia.com [External Link]

Quoting: neffoIt was off the record, to start with. The guys with the shirts weren't necessarily speaking with authority. And, yes, you were a random redditor. There is an upcoming official interview on Gamescom in a couple of weeks, and the question about Linux support [External Link] will be included if it will get enough votes. So please vote if you didn't yet (give that post a REDpoint).
I'm suggesting a few more pinches of salt than Liam was.
Quoting: STiATAs I said, there IS an interview with CDPR out there where they state they built the new engine for multi-platform support from the beginning, and that it will support Linux (natively). Can you please point to that interview? I've never heard of it before.
Why would they miss out Linux sales when they added support for Linux in it?

Quoting: TheswweetI know you can't trust me until they confirm it to everyone, but I really am telling the truth; a CDPR dev told me that TW3 is coming to linux. For the future, it doesn't hurt in such case to ask them if you can record that small Q&A to publish it later. It adds more credibility.

Quoting: Segata SanshiroI played around 30 mins of the last one (actually worked pretty well for me), will never play it all the way through or buy the sequel though. Found exactly what Yahtzee experienced with the game:That's one dumb review. I find the interface of the first Witcher to be better than the second one however, since the second suffered from the consolization problems. Developers promised to avoid that in the future.

Great news. Even if the Linux version will be delayed in comparison with the other ones, it will eventually come out, because it means that CDPR are working on releasing their new REDengine for Linux. And once they'll polish it enough for others to use, there wouldn't be any reason not to start selling their own new games for Linux.

Quoting: torritYou need to install DX9 (full installer). May be it can work with less, but installing d3dx9_36 alone didn't help.Quoting: omer666Bought Flatout 2 right away (Wine wrapper), and I don't know if their Wine version uses CSMT but the game runs flawlessly. I'm not even using Ubuntu, I'm on Arch.Lucky you! I bought it as well and it crashes on start up. And I'm using Ubuntu (albeit 12.04).
