A Linux beta build of Solstice Chronicles: MIA may come soon

Ah, that's where this tweet [External Link] comes from.
I was wondering, because I didn't see any Linux related depot.
Now I see they have added Linux [External Link] to the os list.

I love twin stick shooters, Assault Android Cactus and Ruiner are great games of this kind and showed me how good this type of gameplay can be.

Retro-inspired arcade racer Slipstream to release May 21st, developed on Linux

As a backer I'm lucky to be able to play it already... and it took me some time to get into it. Of course I didn't play the tutorial, pah, how hard could it be to drive a car in a game? A game, which of its kind I played a lot in my young years? Like Rad Racer on the NES oder Lotus Turbo Challenge on DOS?
Well, after I figured out how to drift, it got better. But it's still hard to beat the rival you race against each track. And then I tried the tutorial, but it didn't tell me anything new then any more :)

It's very cool to see that this game was made 100% on Linux. And I like most its pixel style (you can choose between different styles on the menu, e.g. CRT style etc.). After finishing a stage, you can choose between two stages just by taking the corresponding turning. And the art style is pretty cool, here come good memories up from the other vintage racing games.

Nice to see a local coop mode coming, looking forward to that!

Shoot 'em up Hyper Sentinel, a love-letter to Uridium is officially released with Linux support
13 May 2018 at 2:28 am UTC

A C64 was never something I could call my own. Neither did I possess an Amiga. I started with a Commodore PC10 8088 and a Nintendo Entertainment System. But I could play lots of those classic games at friends who owned those computers. Later some of the games made it on the NES (e.g. Pirates, Elite or Maniac Mansion) but Uridium wasn't one of them.
I still remember playing it with a friend on his C64 though, and it was a no brainer for me to kickstart Hyper Sentinel.
Very cool of them to chose a console version too, so I played it already equally on a Nintendo Switch and on Linux.
And yeah, it is a stressfull game, when you start playing. But you'll get used to it, and then it starts to make a lot of fun...

A new Steam Client Beta adds support for the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller
3 May 2018 at 7:52 am UTC

Yeah, cool! Will have to try that out. The Switch Pro Controller feels quite different to my former mainly used Xbox 360 and now mainly used Steam Controller.
Has anyone tried it already? Is it possible to connect the Pro Controller via wireless with the PC? Does it work on Linux?

The only game I couldn't enjoy with my Steam Controller so far is RUINER. Here the aiming via touchpad doesn't really work good for me, and mouse region unfortunately seems bugged with RUINER. So I'll give it a try with the Pro Controller.

Been wondering this myself too, on my 2nd playthrough but not seen any linux based easter egg as of yet!
Yesterday I also finished the game on easy. And haven't found the egg either. Well, they mentioned it's the tiniest easter egg, so... yeah, it won't be found easily :)

Looks like there are two ending cutscenes, depending on if you choose nod or shrug on the final question. When I chose shrug, I had the issue, that the dialog from "her" was showing up again, as an overlay of the end credit scene.

Also, did you have subtitles on the cutscene before the arena fight? For me no subtitles were shown at all, which was very strange to me, so I checked on youtube. I was also surprised by the end coming so soon after the final nod/shrug question.

Now I'm on my second playthrough on normal. Let's see how long it takes me now ;) An exceptional game, that I like to play through more than once.

Quoting: ShmerlWhat track is playing in the tunnel sequence by the way (one in tunel-full.bik?). I don't think it's included in the OST.
How many tracks does the Soundtrack from Steam/GoG have? If there are 15 tracks only, it looks like there is a different "version" of the OST on Spotify, with 24 tracks.

Yeah, this game rocks! I really enjoy playing it. It plays great with a Controller that has two analogue sticks, unfortunately not so good with a Steam Controller, as mouse region doesn't work.

On my Desktop PC the performance is overall great (Core i7 6770, GTX 1070, nVidia 390), but on my Notebook with similar specs (Core i7 6770, GTX 1070, nVidia 390) I have FPS below 60 (~50) and in the dialogue scenes even below (~20). Couldn't figure out yet why... maybe I'll give Feral's gamemode tool a try.

A question for the Steam buyers with more than one gaming device... does the steam cloud save work for you?
For me it only saves a file named "TrophyDataFile" in the cloud, but not the "RuinerSaveSlot.sav" file. In the remoteCache.vdf file in the ~/.local/share/Steam/userdata/<YOUR USER ID>/464060/ folder (the folder which is sync'ed with the steam cloud) I only see the TrophyDataFile listed (without .sav suffix, so I guess this is even not the same file as in the local save directory: .config/Epic/Ruiner/Saved/SaveGames/<some id>/).

I've reported my issue on the Steam forums [External Link], at the moment I'm using a symlink of the local save directory to my own cloud storage for synchronization.

But this is just a minor issue. The game itself works great, it has an awesome pace, especially with its great soundtrack. For an indie title I would say this is easily a AA production and totally worth being bought full-price.

So many new users... and they must all be Linux gamers. This is the year of the Linux Gaming Desktop! :D

But I'm here to say: I love DRM free games!

Satellite Reign is currently free in the Humble Store, lots of Linux games on sale across different stores
20 Apr 2018 at 7:29 am UTC

Quoting: Comandante ÑoñardoRise of The Tomb Rider being on sale in the same day of the release of the Linux version, is not crazy, Liam...
I presume this was the real reason behind the delay of the Linux version of ROTTR...

I guess Feral already knew beforehand about this Steam "VR Spring Sale" and decided to do the things commercially right: A release with a launch sale... It worked for me, at least.
Same here... meh, I had the intention to buy it form the feral store, if there wasn't the Steam VR sale... now I've spent the saved money for more games on sale. So the same amount of money left my pocket (even a bit more), but I got more games for my pile of honor :)

I kinda have a guilty conscience breaking my intention to extra support Feral. On the other hand, I think Feral gets also paid on per contract base, and now other game devs got money from me which they wouldn't have gotten otherwise. Well, I'm still going to hell I guess :D
