New stable Steam client update is out opening the door a little wider for Steam Play on Linux

It also fixes a multitude of Linux-specific issues with the Steam client including those pesky zero-byte updates for Steam Play titles
True! Hated when my Euro Truck Simulator 1 always "updating" especially when the last real-official update was late-2012.

Sounds like a lot of changes are on the way for Valve's Artifact

Lets be honest, online-focused trading card games (TCG) need to be F2P. Better I buy and play the physically real trading card for example, Pokemon TCG which will become collectable item/future classic in the future, can trade freely and etc., rather than buy a virtual TCG with some/many restriction cause it's a virtual game card.

For comparison:
Pokemon TCG Starter Deck = RM 75-120 (vary, based on card quantity)
Artifact = RM85 (pricier than US (RM81.88), very rare for our Steam region)

The war of the PC stores is getting ugly, as Metro Exodus becomes a timed Epic Store exclusive

Also, another thing I want to highlight here (again), account security on Steam is much acceptably robust. Ok, it maybe flaw here and there but if you not installed dubious/malware cheat software and at least 2FA by email, you considered almost secured. itch.io also do have acceptable security.

I won't touch EGS because 1 thing. Losing account because of hacking.
Imaigine someone account with 20-30 games in the library, hacked and lost....

One thing I wanted to highlighting here is the majority of mainstream video game reporters/journalists sees this exclusive deal as a 'great thing for gamers' which give more competition to Steam monopoly. What? I'm smelling astroturfing here.

Simple equation:
Put on GoG, itch, Steam or many stores as wide as possible = Competition.
Put only one store for time being = timed exclusive

I'm really thankful to found this "fansite" named Gaming on Linux. Seriously Liam, thank you very much even do I'm not financially capable to support you. :(

I do not post any links here to avoid giving free traffic/ads to those websites. Just search "Metro Exodus" on Google or Twitter, you'll find it.

Man, this is from 'Linux-friendly' company (or corporation?).

The decision to publish Metro Exodus as a timed Epic Store exclusive was made entirely on Koch Media’s side as Metro is their intellectual property. They are a sister company of THQ Nordic (Vienna), which is the reason why we can and will not comment on this matter. We do not want to categorically exclude the possibility of timed exclusives for any of our games in the future, but speaking in the here and now, we definitely want to have the players choose the platform of their liking and make our portfolio available to as many outlets as possible.
The answer is right there in your quote, "sister company", not "daughter company". Looking at the Wikipedia page for Koch Media we see this:
On 14 February 2018, THQ Nordic announced the acquisition of Koch Media for 121 million EUR. Koch Media continues to operate as its own, separate subsidiary of THQ Nordic, and there are no plans to restructure following the acquisition, nor any cost saving measures on the horizon.[
So apparently as part of the deal to buy Koch, THQ Nordic signed some form of independence clause.
IMO, possibly due to Austrian company registration law or tax-related issue makes it hard for THQn to fully controls and commands.

Not very reassuring, but good that THQ Nordic say they want to reach more players instead of locking games to walled gardens.
Agree..
Also, thanks to Epic, I might backtrack my opinion/stance on Windows 10 Store.

Please Microsoft! Lock Win 10 up!

I'm embarrassed because I'm not financially capable to help you Liam. Worse, sometimes I always writing nonsense/shitposting here too.

I really sorry Liam and other GoL crew because can't support you guys and sometimes my stupid comments. Keep up the reliable, impartial and informative journalism for Linux gaming future.

Putting games across multiple stores is not easy, as developers keep noting recently
23 Jan 2019 at 11:16 pm UTC Likes: 3

"" Developers! you do not need to put your games across on multiple store! Just put it on Epic Games Store. They split 88% revenue to developers minus 20% to influencer. Paying you while absorb loss by give customers free games so no recurring customers to buy your games. And.. and.. it's give Steam a competition by make your games exclusive!!
So, devs please.. Epic Games Store! ""
