"Updated nvidia-installer to allow installing the driver while an existing NVIDIA driver is already loaded."

FINALLY!!!!!!!!! It's almost 2024, what took so bloody long? (I had a memory of, way back in the day, a flag that would skip that check, but couldn't find it last I checked so maybe I'm wrong).

After over 80 weeks the Steam Deck leaves the top 10 global sellers on Steam

If Valve wasn't lying when they said there won't be a new Steam Deck soon, then they ought to announce whatever it is that people are thinking is a new Steam Deck. If this speculation is actually eating into sales, this would help.

Personally, I want a Steam Deck, but the battery life would irritate me. I'm already annoyed I have to charge my cell phone every 2-3 days. But maybe the next iteration will improve that... One can hope. I also don't have the money for it right now, given the cost of everything and other priorities.

I'd love to see a home console, though. Or at least a new controller based on the Deck controls.

Microsoft leak shows Fallout 3 and Oblivion Remasters, DOOM Year Zero and more

I would love a revamped Oblivion, but I dunno if just a bit of a graphical update would do it for me. If there's more to it, my ears perk up.

I didn't like Terraria the last time I tried it, but my son has been asking for it. Gonna have to grant his wish because these guys are amazing with this news.

Unity announced big changes following the hated Runtime Fee

Such heroes.

I hope devs can see this for what it is and continue to migrate away from Unity, ideally to Godot or other open source engines.

Damn. RIP, Crusader.

I remember him in the icculus.org channel on Freenode, back in the day, asking with lots of other great people.

Linux hits a multi-year high for user share on Steam thanks to Steam Deck

Quoting: Purple Library GuyThe likelihood of at least game software being made to target Linux does grow with the number of Steam Deck users
Time will tell. It's still early days, but so far, we're seeing the opposite effect due to Proton. Which, by the way, was the worry back in the Loki/LGP days (when I switched to Linux) with Wine/WineX and later on, Cedega.

In my opinion there is a knock-on effect from the games, in that if Linux is seen as a viable gaming platform, the chances of people adopting it for their desktop is higher.
Indeed, that is just an opinion. I hope you're right, but again, time will tell.

Steam Deck users do represent Linux adoption
Not knowingly, in most cases, which was my point.

Again, this is all pretty theoretical at this point, and even with Steam Deck, the numbers are abysmal - as they have always been. I'm still not seeing anything to celebrate at this point in time.

Linux hits a multi-year high for user share on Steam thanks to Steam Deck

Counting Steam Deck as Linux users is reminiscent of people trying to say Android device users count as Linux users. I bet the majority of people buying the Steam Deck don't know anything about Linux and don't care, they just want Steam on the go.

Wake me up when actual desktop Linux users reach a milestone that means something. I'd say 25%, but I'll settle for passing Mac desktop users in the meantime. I'll be surprised if either happens in my lifetime. Been waiting over 20 years already, no real sign anything is going to change.

It looks cool. I'll wait for the Free to Play release and give it a try then.
