An interview with Paradox Development Studios about supporting Linux

Where do we give feedback like he asks? Will he read the comments here? I'd like the UI scaling to go higher than 1.5X for playing in a living room setting. It's good, but not good enough right now (I'm referring to Stellaris, don't yet have HOI4).

I would say it's the best TD game I've played and I don't need any other ones. :)

Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris looks like it's coming to Linux

I enjoyed what I played of Guardian of Light on PS3, so I'm in for this one on Linux (and Guardian of Light, if it ever happens to come over, too).

Rocket League is still coming to Linux, but there is no release date

Quoting: HoriRemember the days when Steam itself wasn't availabile on Linux? How was the community coping with the lack of games back then and why is it complaining about delayed ports now? I think we've got soooo over ourselves since Valve started investing in Linux, and that's not good, not good at all.
There was no Linux gaming back then, it wasn't even a dream.
I don't know where you were, but there actually WAS a Linux gaming scene in the late 90s and early 00s, before Steam even existed. I used to be able to walk into any of the EB Games stores in Toronto at the time and buy retail copies of Linux games, such as Quake 3 Arena, Kohan: Immortal Sovereigns, Hereoes of Might & Magic III, Myth 2: Soulblighter, Rune, Tribes 2, Railroad Tycoon 2, and others. Ryan Gordon worked for Loki, and then he went solo, and brought out many other games, and a few other devs did Linux games as well. Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, Neverwinter Nights, Unreal Tournament 2003, etc. Hell, I could even find Linux distros and software (StarOffice, Corel WordPerfect, etc) for sale in some stores, like Staples. It was a great time, but short-lived.

Will the Linux game market crash again? Possibly. Very possibly. But just as I did back in the early 00s, I am doing the only thing I can do - avoid purchasing any Windows games, and buying only games released for Linux. This is my part; I am doing it. If everyone else did too, we might stand a chance. There are more of us nowadays.

At this point, it'd be faster for anyone to take up programming as a hobby and hone their craft to the point where they could write a good Rocket League clone.

Quoting: slaapliedjeI keep telling myself that one day I will get to sit down and play a full game of Crusader Kings II, I still have yet to make it through the tutorial :( I just have far too many games to play.
I played 30 hours and didn't finish a game yet. I'd play more if I could play on my TV in my living room. The Steam Controller would work perfectly well for it, just the issue is that the games are very text- and UI-heavy, and both are unusably/unreadably tiny in a Big Picture setup. :( I just don't have it in me to sit at a computer desk all day programming, and then sit at one all night gaming.

My DSLR doesn't have a wide enough lens to capture my full living room, which has the only gaming PC in my house. However, I can tell you that it looks like a big TV with a 5.1 surround system, a comfy couch, a coffee table, a beanbag chair, and Steam Controller.

Valve shoots down Itch stores attempt to get their client on Steam

I hope Valve provides some better kind of integration for other storefronts. If we have to download a second client and run it, it would be pretty annoying. But if they allow other stores properly integrated, as I believe was alluded to during the original Steam Machine/SteamOS hubbub, I think everyone wins.

Survival game Rust adds female player models, assigns gender to Steam accounts at random

This decision makes me actually want to buy Rust. But then, I won't play it anyhow, and I regret buying Garry's other game.

Quoting: fagnerlnI haven't played, but look like that isn't optimized even on Windows.
Why would it be? It's still in Early Access.
The model: "piss code for months until your drown under bugs, then magically fix everything in 2 weeks" (pardon the words) does not seem to work very often in any kind software project.
Fixing bugs and optimizing performance are two different things. Are you actually a developer with any kind of understanding of game development, or are you just angry because the game chugs on your system?
